Review: I approached this book with some hesitation, given its length and the conroversial nature of its subject. Having read other lives of saints that lacked critical perspective about sources, I was wary of this one at first. All of my doubts were dispelled by the abundance of carefully assembled evidence in this volume. Pio is a saint for all of us, as this book makes clear. You will learn much about the spiritual world here, and gain some valuable lessons about the limitations of more "worldly" perspectives than those of Pio. Your life will permanently change for the better as a result.

Review: I read this book 6 years ago, now, and I can still honestly say it changed my life! I still thank God for the now SAINT Pio (canonized on Sunday, June 16, 2002 by Pope John Paul II). I also still thank God for bringing me this book. If you are looking for a book to teach you about the previous millenium's greatest saint ... look no further ... this one is a sure thing. The beginning half of the book tells you about the pure holiness of Padre Pio and what made him a saint. The second half tells of the countless miracles associated with Saint Pio. This book introduced me to a saint who lived in our time and I PROMISE YOU it changed my life in a way I never thought it could or would. I pray the same for you my friend ... and I plead with you to buy it.

Review: I thought the book was a pleasure to read and a hard one to put down. Christians everywhere should read this to further understand what "faith" means. Padre Pio was without a doubt a modern-day saint and certainly a messanger from God himself.

Review: Ruffin provides an indepth and detail look into the life of Padre Pio. He not only describes the Padre's life but the Capuchin order, Italian society, and the Catholic Church in the early 1900s. He ties it all together to help you better understand what Padre Pio was like as a human being and Friar.I have read several books on Padre Pio. This one is by far the best.
