Rating: Summary: Not A Dry Saintly Bio Review: This biography of a saint for our times tries to be objective at every turn. I can't be objective about Padre Pio, because of a personal relationship, but I do know good writing. The historical perspective is detailed and dramatic. But, wait 'til you meet the evil Archbishop in this book. His "big scene" is Hollywood material. Ruffin reveals Padre Pio, a real man, with humor, with failings, but in the end, even the most skeptical among us, will be entertained by a great story of a life.

Rating: Summary: Informative Review: This book is very informative and includes some very nice pictures of Padre Pio. Although Padre Pio fascinates me, I must say that this book has been very difficult to get through. There are so many names, and it is easy to get them confused. However, I do recommend this book about Padre Pio because it seems quite factual.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Person Review: This book walks the reader through the life of the Italian Stigmatist, Padre Pio. Padre Pio's life is not the only thing that is facinating. His miracles and living with Christ's stigmatas truly elevated this man to another dimension. Ruffin's additions to the stories of individuals who knew Padre Pio and who have been touched by him are wonderful. God can touch people in amazing ways, and Padre Pio was a chosen one.
Rating: Summary: A must for all Christians scholars. Review: This book will be an asset to Protestant as well as Catholic scholars. It will also be an inspiration to all Christian seekers. Padre Pio is a lovable saint, and the book is well written. Source notes are a plus for a book about a mystic.

Rating: Summary: Heaven is Real! Review: This is a book that changes how one thinks about spiritual things completely. As "moderns" we find it easy to believe in "spiritual" things, but we easily divorce that from religion. When one reads this book, one's eyes are open to the true depth of spirituality and traditional Christianity. The author is not a brilliant writer, but his prose and research are exactly what is needed to tell Padre Pio's story in a straighforward and truthful manner. Yes, this book brought me back from being a "modern spiritual" person, to being a practicing Catholic again. Read it! You will be amazed!

Rating: Summary: The all-time, hands-down, best biography of Padre Pio Review: This is a very factual, down-to-earth, well-researched and enjoyable biography of our new Saint, Padre Pio. The author goes to great lengths to examine and sort out all the claims made about Padre Pio in a fair-minded, nonjudgmental manner. And the most wonderful thing about Padre Pio turns out to be not just the miracles and the wonders that he performed, but his great love and devotion for Christ. Not to mention his great (and underrated) sense of humor! A terrific book which I've already read twice!
