Summary: Outstanding
Review: I bought this for my son, then I read it too. I could really identify since I was driving cross country during that same year in the mid sixties. Don't miss this one.

Summary: A must for every Pilots who dearms for adventure.
Review: I read this book in two sittings, could not put it down. There are so few adventures left in aviation and the story of these two young mens trip allowed me to share their adventure. I actually visalized the whole trip through their eyes because the author did a fantasic job of discribing every detail. Being a Pilot myself just made the whole experience more enjoyable. A must for Pilots and people who crave adventure.

Summary: You will not be able to put this extraordinary book down
Review: "Flight of Passage" is the best book I've read in a good, long time.

The writing is so smooth, so deft--that I literally had to stop myself from reading the book TOO fast. Plus, I was delighted to find that this memoir has all the makings of a top-shelf novel: a great story, exceptional characterizations, excellent pacing, and damned good writing.

Wow. I can't wait to read it again (and I pray that Rinker Buck is writing something new).

"Flight of Passage" is to be savored and shared.

Summary: It was the best book I ever read!!!
Review: I read this book and I loved it! The thing is I'm only 11 years old. It really was funny and it also displayed that nothing was impossible.

Summary: It was a great book that goes beyond aviation.
Review: This a great book! I found it very hard to put down. It is the story of two brothers who take a cross country flight (in a small piper cub with no radio) from Penn. to Cal. in the summer of '66. But the story goes beyond avaiation, to the true story of two boys becoming men and separating from their father. It a hilarious true story that is riviting and an ingenious memoir. It has gotten a lot of publicity in the New York Times, USA today, Good Morning America, and more! I fully recommend it to you.

Summary: This book is a masterpeice of aviation literature!
Review: I could not put this book down. Being a young pilot myself, it was nice to read about two young boys persuing the true adventure of flying. Rinker Buck is a great story-teller with an almost conversation style. I read this book in 1 day. Give it a try you will love it!

Summary: A compelling narrative of youthful adventure
Review: A kick-a** tale of youthful adventure and more. The true story of two young brothers who set out to cross the continent in a Piper Cub in 1966. Rinker Buck's compelling narrative puts you firmly in the copilot's seat for an exciting flight and, in his capable hands,71 Hotel becomes a time machine. Tom Buck taught his boys to fly and we are all the richer for it.

Summary: Read & re-read the book
Review: A fascinating interplay of relationships within the family. I asked for the book for a Christmas present after hearing it read on the radio. My first impression came from the picture in the front--they really WERE YOUNG! In the past three weekis, I've read and re-read the book four times. I just wish the pictures were clear. Also, the little drawings of the plane at the top of each chapter seem to accurately picture the plane. However, why did they put a generic Piper Cub picture on the cover of the paperback?

Summary: Delightful
Review: I first learned about the book on NPR's Radio Reader program. After a couple days of listening to the book being read, I decided that I would read the book. Being a New Jersey native and having lived for years in a county adjacent to the one in which the author was raised made the book initially interesting to me. However, there is something in the book for everyone. The author does a masterful job of weaving flight stories, New Jersey stories, social status stories, political stories, brother-brother stories, father-son stories, and many others into a relatively seemless book. My only criticism, and it is certainly minor, it is that the caption below the photograph on page 6 is incorrect. Tom Buck may have landed his plane in front of Philadelphia City Hall but the photograph shows the plane in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum.
