Rating: Summary: Don't buy this if you're a Mac user Review: 16 pages into the book and I find I can't even try out the guy's premises (models) because I don't have Windows. The Finder software, downloadable for free, is Windows only. (He tells Mac users to go to the library or a friend.) Shouldn't 'online' imply 'multi-platform'? The title of this book is misleading! I should've noticed the publisher as well. Oh well, $20 down the drain, and back to the drawing board.
Rating: Summary: Usefull only for novice investors Review: A lot more useful information is available on the internet free of charge. Jon Markman is a master when it comes to creating stock screens, alas they are totally useless in the real world.
Rating: Summary: Extremely well written, easy to use, highly informative Review: A very rare combination of easy to use information with as much nuts and bolts as the average investor/reader could want. An outstanding discussion of the basics of investment analysis combined with excellent references to many web-based information sources. All that, and it's easy to read. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Markman gives you all the tools needed to suceed Review: As a long time passive investor in 401 k's, 457's and IRA mutual funds, I felt a more active approach will be benifical as my my investment timeline shortens. Like many others I watched the 8 year bull market from the sidelines and wondered who was able to profit from runup in the narrow band of stocks that was propelling the Dow, S & P, and Nasdaq. Markman's book decsribes in clear, concise detail the most basic and the most detailed interworkings of " mechancial " investing. It's easy to buy a stock, the tough part is the correct time to sell. I followed the steps for months " on paper " with impressive results. After only one month in the real world of momentum investing, do I feel compelled to write this review. One month return - Nov 99 + 27%
Rating: Summary: Sources and Uses Review: As a regular reader of financial "self-help" books, I found Markman's book not only an easy read, but also a valuable long-term resource. Too often authors profess to have found the veritable "holy grail" of investing, only to have the markets later prove their theories wrong. What Jon has done here is to empower the average investor, who is already overloaded with information, to quickly and easily glean the ingredients to building a successful portfolio with minimal work. His specific reference to resources, both at MSN MoneyCentral and also at outside research sites such as LionShares.com, point out to the reader the user most useful tools on the web, and also how to analyze and use those tools. I particularly found the ability to research what the institutional "big boys" on Wall Street were investing in (through LionShares and other sites) an incredibly valuable tool. The book is a handy refence guide and will help improve the stock-picking skills of most investors. Rather than tell us what to do, he gives us the tools to learn how to properly research and evaluate stocks ourselves; this approach alone is a welcome sigh of relief in the crowded landscape of investment guides. A quick and enjoyable read that will enhance the skills of most reader/investors.

Rating: Summary: Update-Year Trader port now up 30.4% in first month! Review: As of the close of trading today, Dec 2, my year trader is up 30.4%. It was started on Oct 29th. Reached 35% on last trading day of Nov. Held up well thru recent nasdaq volatility. Feel free to email me with any q's. Happy Investing! Shawn
Rating: Summary: copycat Review: having bought Eckett's original book of the same title and patel's far superior Trading Online, this effort is a copy of the other two. Come on, you need a real online trader writing a book like Eckett or Patel not a journalist cashing in.
Rating: Summary: SuperModels Monthly Trader is ROCKING! Review: His Supermodel monthly trader screen as seen on MSN.com website is up over 600% this year so far. I wish I had found out about this mechanical investing site long ago for my IRA account. This has cut my investment time down considerably with the stocks from this screen.
