Rating: Summary: Too much philosophy Review: Surely not a "how to" book. Author bombards you with stories on how he struck it rich, but never gives you more than philoshophy on how to do it yourself. Unlike other titles similar to this one (ex. The millionaire next door, The Motley Fool Series etc.), this book offered nothing concrete by which you could go by or start off with. If you are looking for a lecture, buy this book. If you want a title that gets you on your way to a secure financial future, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: "Rich Dad Poor Dad" Review: Simple and to the point - IF You're satisfied with the way your life is, financially, that's O.K. IF You want to change, in a big way, it would help to know the rules that apply, especially in the Information Age. And here is as good a place to get started as any. For those who opt to read this book, Enjoy the trip.
Rating: Summary: Insightful financial information Review: Mr. Kiyosaki hit home for me while I read this book. Growing up not being taught how to manage money and credit has hindered me as an adult. I now realize areas in my financial plan that need to be addressed, because of the information in this book. A must read for high school seniors.
Rating: Summary: Too wordy but factual... Review: This book is worth a study not just a read. Besides that it is simply an entre'. With more puffery than facts it left me hungry for the main course. With the introduction of a game which far and away overpriced and more books which are priced beyond rationality it left me with the feeling of a guy who is full of himself. Yes you need this knowledge. You need it now. But at what cost? You probably should be able to get this type of "information" which includes every book and both of the games for about $200 tops.
Rating: Summary: A BOOK THAT WAKE UP AMERICANS Review: I like to read but I hate to write. The reason I write this comment is because I strongly believed "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" is a book that majority of the Americans should read. This book point out the weakness of Americans such as lack of financial intelligence. One of the good example is the bad spending habit. For most of us, we like to buy things on credit, in the other word, we spend money that we don't have and pay unreasonable high interest. That's why most of us are in debt for most of our life. This is just one of the point that Mr. Robert T. Kiyosaki mentioned in this book and he also tells us what we need to change in order to be financially success. Personally I like this book a lot and agree a lot of things that Mr. Robert T. Kiyosaki said in this book. Thanks Mr. Robert T. Kiyosaki
Rating: Summary: A WASTE OF TIME! Review: This book is nothing more than an info-mercial in print form with a purpose of selling you expensive tapes and a $300.00 board game! By the looks of others reviews, his rhetoric is working. Kiyosaki simply uses an age old tactic here: greed. He will make you feel stupid and guilty for having a safe, secure job or your very own business, no matter how much you make you are a rat in a rat race. He then boasts about all of his riches and possesions to get you dreaming. Once this is accomplished, you worship his every word and buy his tapes which supposedly teaches you step by step what to do with your money. Folks, wake up! He is using the same tactics that most network marketing "businesses" use. In my experience, those that do, do. Those that can't do teach. If he is a millionare, I would bet that its from selling this stuff. This book has a very immature feel to it, its like "HA HA, I have all this money and you dont. What are you going to do about it? Keep slaving away at your job the rest of your life?" Keep your money and put it in a diversified mutual fund, which by the way is what "uninformed, average investors do with thier money" according to Kiyosaki. Excuse me! This is the best stock market ever in history! It has been escalating for 10 years! What am I missing here? My opinion is that he is a very poor writer, he wrote "my rich dad said", or "my poor dad said" so many times it made me crazy. I am going to continue being a "rat" and return this book for a personal financial planning guide which I was looking for in the first place.
Rating: Summary: A must read for students Review: As a college student who has taken two economics classes and two consumer law classes, this book taught more in the two days it took to read than the four semesters it took to complete those courses. I now feel prepared to enter the real world and become self-reliant. This book should be required reading for junior high, high school and college students because it explains debt, liabilities and assets in a very simple way.
Rating: Summary: ENLIGHTENING Review: This book describes how businessmen and investors think about money, and how these views differ from what most people think. If you are currently an employee or self-employed then it will change some of your assumptions about money and education. For how well it does that alone it deserves 5 stars. It is not particularly well-written, but it has an easy-to-read style, and is certain to keep your interest through the story telling method of exposition. Well worth reading.
Rating: Summary: A must read for every parent! Review: My husband and I loved this book and it's advice so much that I sent it to every couple that I know for their Christmas present. We agree with the money management & investment philosophy's. Everyone who received the book has already gone out and bought the 2nd book and hopefully are on their way to financial freedom. Wouldn't it be great to make all of your friends rich!
Rating: Summary: Worth Reading Review: The core thrust of this book is well worth reading. It is just that he could have done it in about 20 pages! There is way too much of the typical pulp filling fluff here. Nevertheless, it is well worth plucking out the gems contained in this book.
