Rating: Summary: Rich in inspiration, poor in guidance! Review: This book could be dangerous to people who are easily inspired and have more determination than ability. The author could actually pump up some people too much and cause them to do something foolish with their money. To motivate the reader to go out there and make money the author tells about how he did it. His money-making deals are incredibly successful and apparently accomplished with relative ease. Readers who lack experience may get the wrong impression that great profits are easy to grasp only if you stop being lazy. On page 190 the author relates a short story about a neighbor who bought a condo for $100,000 and the author bought an identical condo for $50,000. This is fantastic, all in nice round numbers, and he got an apparent bargain for exactly 50% less. This is the way to get rich. Most people would love to make a buy like this. (This is assuming the neighbor did not pay two times too much and real market value of the condo is only $50,000.) But the author does not provide us with any details on how he managed to pull off this great deal. What were his negotiating techniques? What was the real estate market like? What was the location? Was the seller desperate, ignorant or stupid? I have purchased eight condos myself and never managed to get a deal like that. I know dozens of people who have bought condos and none are in that league. We would all like to learn how to be like Mr. Kiyosaki but he does not give us any lessons learned on the details that really count. On page 177 there is another example of a condo he bought for $50,000. (I wonder why I can't ever buy a condo for such a nice round number?) Wow! Cynical/skeptical people may suspect some of his stories are partly or completely fictional! But again, we are not told where, when and how he did it in detail that would be instructive. Was it easy or difficult to do? Could the average middle-class person do it? Can the average middle-class person start thinking big and acting like the founder of McDonald's (or Bill Gates) as he urges us to do? On page 81 the author states, "The middle class buys liabilities they think are assets." Is that not an insult to the greatest middle-class in the greatest country in the world? -- unless he has solidly researched data to support such a sweeping allegation. If the intended audience of this book is the middle-class, and they are as ignorant as Mr. Kiyosaki thinks they are, I don't think this book will help get them from here to there. The book has a lot of inspiration but is lacking essential, detailed "how-to" steps. There is no detailed discussion on how to avoid the dangerous pitfalls along the way. His answer is too simple: you just do it successfully like Mr. Kiyosaki and just learn to manage the risk. There should have been more instruction/discussion on how to manage the great risk involved. I only recommend this book for those people who can take it with a grain of salt. I subtract one star for the lack of detailed guidance and another star for the insult delivered to the entire American middle-class.
Rating: Summary: Poor Poor Poor Review: Why did I have to write the same word 3 times ? Make a guess ... I just read 'Rich Dad Poor Dad'. Everything in this book is repeated at least three times. ( no exaggeration). A 200 page book could have been written in 30 pages flat. Even the language used is same. Reading this childlike book reminds me of project reports high school students, where the author has no motivation to keep the reades interest. Unless you have read every other book in the world, save your time and money.
Rating: Summary: THE MONEY SYSTEM Review: In my opinion this book is a perfect example to get knowledge about the money system in this society . i really recomend this book to all the people who want to learn how is the money system in this society today and back in the days .
Rating: Summary: being rich is a great thing Review: This is a great book. It has tought me so many things about how how to save my money and what to do when i have enough to spend it. When i am older i plan to put this information to use and be rich and retire early just like kiyosaki. I think that everyone should read this book if they are intrested in money, and how to become rich.
Rating: Summary: Changed my life Review: Before reading Rich Dad Poor Dad I used to listen to stock brokers who only made me broker. I only worked for an employer, now I have a very profitable side business. And I used to buy those boring 1,000 page financial books written by non financial people who don't know beans about money. RTK and his Rich Dad got me on the right track and non too soon. Thank you RTK. Thank you Rich Dad.
Rating: Summary: What Our Education System is Lacking Review: Throughout the beginning, middle and end or this book there was a considerable amount of time was spent explaining the main concepts as you would to a child. This is because this kind of material is foreign to most people and to break it down from the fundamentals and out is important in order to ensure understanding. Explaining what most people perceive contrasted to a rich person's view creates an epiphany for the reader. As you read along, this becomes more and more apparent and you begin to comprehend how vital these lessons are. Lessons on financial literacy, income taxes, corporations, balance statements, assets and liabilities are what we need in school. All people should have the privalege of knowing how to survive in the financially-established and insanely competitive world we live in. we need to incorporate Rich Dad's lessons into our curriculum and other significant and now essential aspects of our manifesting culture.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Series! Changes your Perspective!! GREAT BUY! Review: First let me say the review "All hot air! No substance whatsoever., March 24, 2004" by reviewer MissouriTiger is WAY off base & should be removed! This is obviously someone against the author in general. (Plus if you do any research OR READ THE BOOKS you find out where & how Kiyosaki made his money) ANYWAY, Mr. Kiyosaki has a great writing style that made this book interesting and not a "boring financial book" that we may be used to. In this book he mainly tells his story. He doesn't share any "get rich" schemes or secrets, but he deals with a more important issue, How we look at money & wealth - which is also more fascinating anyway. This perspective is the basis for wealth building and for his other books which are also great. I bought RD,PD - CashFlow Quad - & RD Guide to investing. Get this book! If you don't like it, resell it, but I've read mine multiple times! I really enjoyed it.
Rating: Summary: All hot air! No substance whatsoever. Review: If you are looking for a book which is long on hype, but totally devoid of facts to back it up, then this is the book for you. There isn't any real information in this book, just a bunch of horn blowing, and cheerleading. The author offers no facts, nor anything concrete to lend credence to anything he says. I sincerely believe the author has spent a lot of time entereing bogus 5-star reviews of his book here at Amazon, because nothing else could explain so many positive reviews for such a joke of a book! I have attempted to research the author, and as far as I can tell, he has never made a dime in any business, except selling ridiculous books such as this. He claims to have gotten rich in business, but he never tells anyone exactly what business he was in. What was the name of his company? What products/services did his business offer? How many years was he in business? If he was so successful, why isn't he still doing it? John T. Reed has published an expose' on the internet. Go read it, but don't waste your time reading this book. If you want more opinions of what is wrong with this book, simply scroll to the drop-down list box on this page, and select the option to order the reviews by "lowest rating first." Then read a half-dozen of them, and they will say the same thing I'm saying. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this bag of wind.
Rating: Summary: Dare To Dream Review: A friend gave me his copy of this book seven years ago. I had a paradigm shift. My understanding of money changed. Now I have made quite a bit of money - little by little, but very consistently and boy does it add up. In a few years I will retire young and with the money to do what I wanted. Thanks Robert Kiyosaki and Rich Dad. I own this book and return to this page often to buy copies for friends and colleagues - it is a Karma thing. I figure that someone gave me a copy and it helped me out... I want to recommend that if you buy Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and you have kids, then buy The Child Whisperer by Matt Pasquinilli. The Child Whisperer has nothing to do with money, but the communication techniques I read about in The Child Whisperer, are equally responsible for my success - in other words, both books together gave me the understanding of money and myself that I needed to become a happier and wealthier man. As an added bonus, I became a better father to my son.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: Best book I have ever read. Life changing. The absolute best. This book really rocks.
