Summary: Informative Reading for the Investor
Review: The ability to balance fundamental and technical analysis is critical to the success of any investor's portfolio. With the increase of program trading and volatility in the markets that have occurred in the past few years, I sincerely believe that technical analysis is becoming a larger factor in the investment decision process today. Having read numerous books on technical analysis, I would say that Curt's ability to present one of the toughest subjects into informative and substantive chapters is a must read for anyone that has funds invested in the markets.

Summary: Another Me Too Book on TA
Review: This book is another "Me Too" book on technical analysis. This book is very short and concise. There is a section with problems and solutions. However, in the REAL world, most patterns are not as clear-cut as those in the book. Why doesn't the author use REAL examples? Unlike those previous reviewers with the fancy-schmancy titles, I'm just your everyday average trader and would really need a thicker book with real examples and more explanations. Unlike the previous reviewers with the titles, I have also reviewed more than 1 book...

If you really want to learn technical analysis, you really should get Martin Pring's "Technical Analysis Explained", or John Murphy's "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets" or something by Jack Schwager. The book is easy to read and well written, there's just not enough of it. This book will whet your appetite, but if you're trading with REAL money, and you really want to satisfy your hunger for technical analysis, you need a book by Pring, Murphy or Schwager.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Thorough coverage of subject matter
Review: This book is mostly an introduction to technical analysis, but it has strengths that go beyond a basic-level text. The logic of technical analysis is explained in very clear language, and there are many, many practical examples that every reader will relate to. The simplicity of the charts in the exhibits is also a positive. Some books recently have added so much minutia to simple stock charts that the basic message has been confused or lost. Curt Renz does not make this mistake. He sticks with the essential messages of charts, and he give readers several clues to deriving those messages.
