Rating: Summary: one of the bes HP books Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix had to have been one of the best Harry Potter writen by Rowling. Still I love 3 one a lot more but this is right next to it. This had to be the darkest of all the books, shows how Harry comes to age and has to deal with his emotions. I'm glad this book didn't focus around Harry and Dumbledore like it has in the other ones, it was better to have the story from Harry and not going all over the place. I was really happy to see read Sirius and Lupin have returned once again. They have to be the best characters in the whole book. I was really sad at what happen at the end of the book. I can't believe that Rowling did that... And now we all have to wait for volume 6 and we have no idea how long this one is going to take her to write. We can only hope that it will come out next year. Now we can only wait, and hope that it will be here soon. Because knowing that this book will sell over millions she will have to write it faster.
Rating: Summary: Order of the Phoenix was the best of the Series Review: ok i might start to exaggerate but WOW! i think J.K rowling outdid herself. this was the best of all the harry potter books it explains alot. now i understand so much. this had humor, romance although it was sad for harry, pain or sadness, thrilling expectations and a way to keep you on your toes and even(don't laugh) crying(i did). i reccomend this to anyone young or old, harry potter fan or not i recommend this so much. i can't wait till the 6th book but j.k has her baby coming and i expect that she will be very busy but i hope she'll find time to keeping going cause i don't think i can handle the suspense. well gots to go. buh bye.
Rating: Summary: Still yummy Harry goodness! Review: While still worth getting it the day it came out, I feel this book wasn't up to par with the others. Good cake with no icing, if you will. Please read the other reviews for the good points! Books 2-4 had so many plot twists that I didn't know which way was up by the end of them. The Order of the Phoenix just seems to play out what is already known (in a good way). Are there any stunning revelations left to do? I hope so. You won't find any here.
Rating: Summary: Just as good as all the others..... Review: Harry Potter books are my favorite books up to date (next to Lord of the Rings), and I cannot pick a favorite book. This book is great and it is almost impossible to stop and put it down for a break. It has more pages than any other Harry Potter book so far yet you will still fly through the pages in a matter of no time. In this book, Harry is now 15 years old! It may be a little disappointment to others but he has finally grown out of being a sweet, loving child and turned into a selfish, a little bit bossy teenage boy, (just like my brother). Harry also once agains encounters You-Know-Who and has to fight him with the help of the "Order of the Pheonix", a group of undercover wizards and witches against Voldermort and his death eaters. There is also a new defense against the dark arts teacher at the school of Hogwarts named Prof. Umbridge who Harry hates as much as Snape. A lot of other new things are goind around Hogwarts such as Ron, as the new keeper of the Gryfindor Quiditch team, Ron and Hermione as prefects, and Harry and Cho Chang are finally having a go with a relationship. This is a great book for children and parents alike, and i highly reccomend it. I am dearly looking forward to the sixth installment of the magical series of Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: This is just as good as the other 4 harry potter books! Review: Finished this in about 6 days, and for me that was very fast. Almost every chapter makes you want to keep reading. This took about the same amount of time to read as the Goblet of Fire (Harry potter 4'th book). Being from "Across the POND", J.K. Rowling used a few expressions that people in the America's might not understand, especially younger kids. This did not take away from the book though. The Vocabulary was advanced at times, with words I would never expect a 15 year old to know. To sum up the book, Almost everything Harry looks forward to at hogwarts gets taken away form him by the ministry of magic(who made harry out to be a Crazy Kid telling lies about the Dark Lord's return), he is now "mentally" connected with the Dark Lord(voldermort), and after facing Voldermort's followers(Death Eaters), he winds up with Dumbludor revealing the secret to Harry's Life and why he is so "special", something he never mentioned in the previous 4 books. As all this has been happening, harry has become Much More Short Tempered, and really gets temperamental at times. I myself thought the ending of the 4'th book was WAY DARKER then this book , but this book had more "semi-dark" aspects, still suitable for young kids though. Also, this book did not have that "twist ending", that the other 4 books had, this did not affect the book though In My Honest Opinion(IMHO). This is a must-read for anyone who likes things to do with magic or people who liked the previous 4 harry potter books. ~Hope this helps
Rating: Summary: How many years till the next?! Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was an amazing novel on many levels. Not only did Rowling manage to keep a constant engaging story line, but she also showed a greater depth to her writing styles and abilities. Of course, there was no doubt she is an amazing talent, HP5 manages to illuminate the British culture of the characters that seemed not to have been as prevalent previously. Stylistically, this novel is more complex, i.e., it is on a higher reading level than the previous instalments (this has no bearing on it's length or subject matters, merely it's complexity). It was notable to me that the tone of this novel was, as many have observed, much darker. There were so many times I kept waiting for Harry to have a good day, but his world is very dismal in his 5th year at Hogwarts, and there were few good memories. Not to say it is depressive; rather, it is stimulating and engaging. No matter the age of the reader, this novel is captivating (as well as appropriate) for most all readers, with the exception of those who are not willing to enter the magical world of 'Harry Potter'.
Rating: Summary: ok...not what I anticipated Review: The books are becoming very redundant...repeating almost the same plot, so Rowling had to do something!! Oh, hold me back Voldemort is coming to get me...it's always the same thing. Don't get me wrong, I loved the 1-4 books, but it just..never changes!!! She had to do something in the 4th book thats why she made the Dark Lord comeback...anyways..what would happen?? Besides I found Harry extremely annoying in this book. Always snapping at Ron and Hermione. For all the waiting that we had to do...it wasn't as great. But I am looking foward to see who Rowling is going to kill off to make the book a little more "tragic"...sorry... these are supposed to be "kid's novels". Not for the young and the restless....
Rating: Summary: Tired of angry Harry but it reads well Review: The trend began in Book 4 - long winded introductions. Its fortunate that JK Rowling keeps the pace bubbling along nicely for these long introductions, but in this book I was getting very, very, very, VERY tired of Harry being angry all the time! 200 odd pages of angry angry Harry. Come on! I don't know many teenagers who were or are as angry as Harry! The stuff at the end of the book describing Harry being moody was more an accurate reflection on teenagers than the angry Harry of the long introduction! So, be warned, Harry is tiresomely angry for the first 200 odd pages... But after that, the book really picks up! Some of the new characters in this book are sensational - and the new Defence of the Dark arts teacher - she's special! She deserves to be elevated to being the worst villain ever - I don't care about 'you now who' - this new teacher will have you squirming as you read the book, gasping in horror and desperately trying not to speed read to see what she does next! Umbridge alone adds a marvelous new layer to this book! Plot twists abound, classes, fantastic battles are described vividly by Rowling to replay in full technicolour in your mind. In fact, one of the most disconcerting things about reading this book is I hadn't seen any of the films before reading the other books and kept catching myself thinking as I read this book, "that will be interesting to see translated onto the big screen" because the most beautiful thing about this book is Rowling wrote it for the READER and their imagination, not the big screen! So she has not let herself become limited by future film scripts. Full marks to her for that alone.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely wonderful; A great new installment in the series Review: I, having read all four books previously in the series, bought this book on its release date. Although the wait was slightly longer than I had expected (by about one year) I was still completely awed by J.K. Rawlings ability to spin a story that was long but seemed to be very short. She is able to age Harry, Ron, and Hermione perfectly. The teenage trivias of Harry's life are coming into full effect. Harry's fifth year is one of the most intriguing and sustaining books in the series. None of the previous books went into much detail before Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it was a pleasure to read about his angers and sadnesses. This year also since He-who-must-not-be-named is back Harry's scar is hurting more and also makes Harry's that much interesting. Anyway this book is a real stunner. This book is a slightly darker but you must remember that this book ages as Harry does so as a result Harry deals with darker evils as he grows. It is still readable material for a child. Excellent book definitly worth the wait!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! Review: Well, I'm not done with the book yet, but as of now, I LOVE IT! I think the details of everything are fantastic. The parts that may seem boring and uneventful to others, enthralled me. I found the details helped me delve into the fantastic world of Harry Potter a step further. I also like the twist in Harry's personality, even if it makes the reader rather annoyed with him. I also like the fact that J K Rowling leaves you to ponder things for a while before bringing them back to the reader's attention. I'm not sure who the death will be but I'm going to find out soon! Well anybody who's been following the Harry Potter series ought to read this since it does give you more insight into the world he lives in and its a fantastic book and well written.
