Rating: Summary: Superb! Review: My wife and I both finished the book on Monday and thought it was great. It is a little darker than the others as we get to see Harry going through adolescence but I would still recomend it to anyone who has enjoyed the previous books.
Rating: Summary: Good stage setting Review: Good book, not as great as some of the others, particularly my favorite, The Prisoner of Azkaban. But Rowling does a very nice job of bringing Harry into the teenage world, further developing some of the other characters we've met before, presenting new characters who will help our old friends grow up, and setting the stage for books 6 & 7. With the shift in tone at the end of book 4, book 5 almost had to introduce us to a new world - and that's primarily what this one does. Long? Yes. But worth the read.
Rating: Summary: AWsome Review: this was the best book yet in the series. It only took me two dys to finish it! I couldn't put it done. in this book you learn secrets about harrys parents, dumbledore and the biggest secret of all. this book is deep and makes you think. everything this author writes means something. This book has everything... from suspence, to a good plot, death, magic, evil, and a tad bit of romance (but thats another story) I recommend this book to everyone young and old like alike aswell as all the other books in this series HARRY POTTER FIVE IS THE BEST BOOK IN THE SERIES SO FAR
Rating: Summary: An excellent read! Review: Kudos to J.K. Rowling for a fascinating look at Harry's coming-of-age. I didn't expect such a fantastic and realistic look at teen angst - Harry's growing up! The wide-eyed innocence is gone and Harry looks at his future in sober judgement while learning what his priorities are, dealing with the past and preparing for his future. The plot is intricate and revealing, and leaves me praying that it won't be three more years until we have book 6!
Rating: Summary: Simply magical Review: JK Rowling, who deserves every bit of her success as a children's writer, has skillfully allowed her hero, Harry Potter, to mature at the same pace as the readers who fell in love with the world of Hogwarts and all that is magical with the publication of the first installment in the Harry Potter series. This, the fifth of a planned seven-novel series, is a well-paced book; the main plot events are spaced nicely throughout the novel and the level of excitement never flags. The characters are as vivid and well-written as we have come to expect from this anthology. A number of past favourites make welcome reappearances, and we are also treated to some new characters - some good, some evil, and some of a dubious nature! The more intense part of the story, which comes at the end, is treated with a great sensitivity and insight that left me in tears. The much-publicised "death" scene and its consequences make this a truly touching coming of age novel. Another masterpiece of children's fiction!
Rating: Summary: At least as good as the other 4 books Review: This book is surprisingly good. Don't believe the reviews that say the book takes a long time to warm up - the action starts immediately, with Harry newly aware that all at Privet Drive is not as he once imagined. This is a great turn for those of us who are a little tired of the typical Privet Drive make-fun-of-muggles starts many of the books have. Once Harry manages to save himself from being expelled and having his wand taken away from him, the action is thick and fast. Voldemort's return is debated, and the administrators are keen to work against Dumbledore. There are many twists and turns, and the writing is clear, yet not condescending or too childish for the adult reader. A much darker book than any of the previous, yet no loss of wonder or creativity in JK Rowlings universe. I almost wanted to not enjoy this book - such is my distaste for hype. But JK Rowling has delivered again, and I can't wait to read books 6 and 7. Happy reading to you million+ Harry Potter buyers.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix Review: I couldn't put it down. I want to know when the 6th book will be here, I don't want to wait another 2 years so I hope she is writing fast! Overall it's much darker than the other books but that doesn't take anything away from the story, it's perfect that a young teen would be going through all this turmoil. At first I felt like it had a little slow start, I wanted more to happen but once I got about 1/2 way through, I raced through it. I hated that toad faced woman Umbridge. I loved that Hermione got justice with her in the end. I LOVED Fred and George and all that they did - way to go guys! I hope they stay in the story a lot, great comic relief. My only real dissapointment was not finding out what the O.W.L. scores were in the end. I really want to know. I hope an announcement is made soon as to when the 6th book will come out. Thank you JK, we all love it!
Rating: Summary: Maturing Harry Potter Review: I have to say that I was greatly impressed with the fact that this book now shows a maturing side of Harry Potter that doesn't take any crap from anybody. I was impressed the fact that after a teacher would say something infuriating Harry, he would say what I was thinking I would respond like. It's common knowlidge that a main character dies in this one, and it made me pretty angry considering it was probably my favorite character. Overall a fantastic book, continuing the improving trend she has made ever since releasing the first one.
Rating: Summary: The best yet! Review: As a fourteen year old bookworm, I'm a big fan of all the Harry Potter books. But this one was definitely the best! Although it was long, it keeps your attention. It's exciting, and finally you get some answers to questions there have been since the first book. The story follows Harry Potter at his fifth year, as he saves his cousin from dementors, stays at the house of Sirius Black, almost gets expelled from Hogwarts, deals with the nastiest teacher yet, and finally learns the secret of why Voldemort tried to kill him in the first place. This is a work of art, an absolutely amazing book!!!! It was even better than I expected.
Rating: Summary: Spectacular!! Review: What can I say, what a wonderful addition the the Harry Potter series! This one is my favorite so far, JK keeps getting better and better. I cannot wait for the 6th installment. This book has answered alot of questions I have had from the very first book!! It is a bit scary and sad at other time however, you really start to feel like you know these characters. Wonderful Read!!! Recommended for everyone!!
