Summary: Very Dark and Unsettling
Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is not only the longest, but clearly the darkest of books in the series so far. I have to admit I miss the light-heartedness of the earlier books in the series. This book still contains the humor and magic of the other series, but I found everything Harry had to face and his understandable reactions to these events unsettling. No longer is Harry Potter something I can pick up when I want a light and fun read.

All this being said, I am still as hooked as ever and now impatiently waiting for the next book.

Summary: "The Order of the Phoenix delivers a great story"
Review: This book (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) is great for all ages. I loved it! Take a tremendous trip with Harry, Hermione, and Ron back to Hogwarts for their fifth year. This time there are more twists, secrets, detentions, and more of an adventure than before. Every time J.K. Rowling starts a book, they are better than the last and probably one of the best books yet. The cracks in Harry's story fill in more and more with the turn of the page. You'll fall more and more in love with the characters. And you'll hate the villains with a passion. Harry and the gang are up to the old stuff: school, detentions, drama, their secrets, tricks, spells, potions, the new defense against the dark arts teacher, and trying to figure out what's going on with You-Know-Who.
Personally I loved how Rowling makes grow in her books. Makes them grow into adults. And the last book you read leaves you with this question: what will happen to them? Find out and read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Summary: Another great Harry Potter book!
Review: J.K. Rowling has done it again. The world she creates is so rich that it just envelopes the reader and makes you lose all track of time.
I agree with the other reviewer about the person she chose to kill, as they were my favorite character, and that's why the 4 star rating. Though I think she may have left an opening for them to reappear later. See Harrys last conversation with Luna Lovegood.
My only other complaint is I waited so long for this book, finished it in less than a week, and now have to wait probably 3 years for the next one! Get writing, Ms. Rowling!

Summary: IT'S A BRILLIANT BRIDGE
Review: Our family just finished today...I read the entire thing aloud--boy, am I hoarse! Major points (I guess...):

The length was probably not altogether necessary...I think the first six chapters could easily have been condensed into three...

Harry's teenage "angst" does get a little tedious unless you have purely "parental" patience with him and remember that the poor kid was tortured and severely traumatized in GOBLET--and even then you'd kinda like to give him a small shot to the head and an "Aw, shut up." at times.

Rowling FINALLY hits her stride and much from the middle to the end of the book is typical of her superb ability to blend suspense, mystery, and uproarious humor--Fred and George steal the show this book.

While it didn't steal my heart in the same way as the other books, It certainly kept me turning pages (even jumping ahead when no one was looking)and was a good "bridge piece" in the series that tied up some loose ends and advanced the plot.

Summary: What we've all been waiting for!
Review: After a few years wait, JK Rowling has released the 5th book in the amazing Harry Potter series.
This book was so hard to put down, it wasn't even like I was reading. It was amazing. I felt like I was in Hogwarts more than ever before and I never wanted to leave. Though some people are complaining that this book doesn't have enough romance, it's even better than I expected it. Harry Potter isn't supposed to be romance and OotP has more than the other books combined.

The death is heartwrenching and I still can't get over it. Many questions of this characters return remain at the end for us to ponder. JKR is great and leaving us with questions and awaiting the next book.

I believe OotP is more mature and darker than the other Harry Potter books that have been released, but it is also more addicting and interesting. Many things are revealed but many things remain untold to the fans, leaving JKR with plenty to write about in the next books.

I recommend this book to everyone and anyone, whether you like to read or not. It won't even feel like you're reading. But of course you need to read the other Harry Potter books which are just as great and you need to pay attention to JKRs foreshadowing and little details to get even more out of these books.

Summary: Get's better every time.
Review: Well it's three days after the release and I've just finished reading it. This was the most pleasure to read of all the Harry Potter books. I thought Rowlings descriptions were much more well formed. The timeline of action is about the same but her sentences are longer and more visual. She is a bit more subtle in how she inserts explanations for new readers of various characters and situations mentioned in her other books. For example, Harry walks down the street where he had first met Sirius, his godfather, and once again bemoans his inability to do anything at Privet Drive, "Nevertheless it was quite galling to be told not to be rash by a man who had served twelve years in the wizard prison, Askaban, escaped, attempted to commit the murder he had been convicted of in the first place, then gone on the run with a stolen hippogriff..."

The formula is basically the same, Harry is stuck at Privet Drive, Harry is rescued from the Dursley's by members of the wizarding community, an obstacle must be overcome before Harry can return to school, dark rumors swirl about Harry as he returns to Hogwarts, the school year passes with various intrigues, Harry is mistrusted, Harry's group has to figure out what is happening on their own, and then the big showdown with Voldemort and the epilogue.

The difference is that Harry as a teenager is much more emotional and rebellious( No more frightened deer in the headlights look). The action is much more exciting, shocking, and involves more people than ever before. It's enjoyable to get another glimpse into the world of Harry Potter through the increasing cast of characters, especially when the background of these characters is revealed in greater detail.

Summary: Spectacular!!!
Review: What can I say, another great addition to the fabulous Harry Potter Series!! I loved this book, the ending leaves you wanting more!! I cannot wait for the next installment, I think this one was my favorite of the series! It answered alot of questions I have had from the beginning. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a wonderful, magical adventure!!

Summary: This is by far the most captivating HP book yet!
Review: WOW WOW WOW and more WOW!!! J.K. Rowling is the best author! This book starts out with intense action, there is not one moment where the reading strays from the topic. There are so many different plots and problems weaving in and out of the text that the reader is constantly on their toes! I am on page 655 right now, getting really close to being done, and i must say, i am dreading the end of yet again another fascinating tale of Harry Potter! I hope the other two sequels will be along shortly, in a much quicker fashion than this one, but i will tell you, it was definatly worth the wait- if this is the only book you read in your life, i highly recommend it!!! 5+++++++++++ stars on my scale!

Summary: How much darker is this darker book?
Review: Although this book has many good things to say about it, there were parts that I was disappointed with. After waiting 3 years from book 4, I was ready for some action. I had read that this book was going to be "darker than any we've yet seen", however I didn't think it was. Harry's main struggle was with an annoying Ministry official, whereas I was hoping for a struggle with Voldemort and his gang of Death Eaters. In those respects, I was disappointed. However, it still has a gripping plot. You get to see exactly how much progress Harry is making in school, and in growing up. You get to see some real fighting, and how powerful Dumbledore really is. I'd still recommend this book to anyone.
