Summary: A TRIUMPH!
Review: I must admit, this wasn't a blind buy, so I can't take credit for my clairvoyant ability to choose fabulous manga. Quite the opposite, I was intrigued by an anime magazine which listed Miki and Yuu as the 5th most romantic couple in anime/manga. And let me assure you, it's the truth.

"Marmalade Boy" is a triumph of beautiful artwork and characters that you will love from the moment you open the book. Koishikawa Miki has an ordinary life, with an ordinary family. Until her parents return from a Hawiian vacation with the news that they are in love...but not with each other! Miki's parents have fallen in love with another couple, the Matsuura's. Enter Yuu, the Matsuura's son, and a crazy plan for all six of them to live together, and wacky, romantic and touching hijinks ensue.

"Marmalade Boy" is a fun loving, romantic story with memorable characters and enough twists to keep you guessing. And even better, it is published right to left, so none of the artwork has been altered in any way!

Summary: Great Romance for Young Readers
Review: I read this manga all in one sitting. It was just so good, I couldn't put it down. It is a great Romance/Comedy manga and doesn't have any adult situations, so if you are a young manga reader, you will be safe with this great manga!

Summary: Ehh.
Review: I really... Just didn't dig this manga. At first I thought that the idea of a romantic comic would be okay - I liked Mars a lot, and thought maybe this would be as good as that comic. Marmalade Boy even got some high reviews and the synopsis of the first comic seemed cool and original.

So I read the first book, and was amused enough to get the second part. Although not as original as the first, the second book was pretty good, also. Then I just sort of kept going with reading the manga, and started getting disappointed as the same sort of 'predictable-romance-writing' thing kept happening. Plus, it didn't seem like Miki and Yuu's relationship developed much over the course of the time they were together... Not many challenges facing them. So by about book five I gave up on the comic and went to something else.

I think someone in the age range of 8-13 might be interested, but the comic reeked too much of predictable sugary-sweetness to me.

Summary: Ah! Kamisama!
Review: I was first introduced to the Marmalade Boy series back in the year 2000. Of course like most others I was introduced to it by the 76 episode anime instead of the 8 vol. manga, but I really enjoyed the series, so i purchased the original Japanese manga from a Japanese book store. Let me say that the manga is quite a bit different than the anime.

I really liked this translated vol. of the manga, unlike many other of Mixx's translations Marmalade Boy shimes. I did notice on one page though that they forgot to put the words back in. On page 133 there is a panel in which Miki is yelling, but there are no words in the original Japanese vol. she said in the first word ballon "So" and in the second "Sonnna koto nai!" which basically translates into "that is not true!"

Other than that thi book is very well done. It is a sweet girl's comic that really pulls at the heart strings. Guys can enjoy it too, I am one of those, hehe. Anyway, just prepare yourselves for a bunch of weirdness and anguished teenage love! Good series check it out!

Summary: Definetly Worth It!
Review: I was recently given this manga to me by a friend of mine, whom told me it was one of the best she's ever read (and let me tell you, she's read a lot!). I didn't believe her, so I borrowed it just to prove her wrong. Well, it turns out I proved MYSELF wrong! This manga is wonderful and hilarious, but more for the teenage readers. The manga is very realistic (except for her parents) and it has a terrific plot. I would definetly recommnend this manga to teenagers. Older people would probably not enjoy it as much.

Summary: Not just another hyped-up story...
Review: I've been an anime fan for a very long time (over 5 years) and I have often heard Marmalade Boy mentioned in conversation. I've seen web sites dedicated to it, and looked at pictures online, but I never checked it out because I figured it was just another hyped up series without much redeeming value. It didn't interest me. But now that I've bought the first volume, I want to have them all. This manga is so good! It ranks right up there with Kareshi Kanojyo no Jijyo (Kare Kano or "His and Her Circumstances") and Peach Girl. It's funny, cute, and tackles many of the situations which we all face growing up. (Mostly love of course ^_^). If you like romantic, funny, cute, real-life centered shoujo manga, then this title is perfect for you.

Summary: A MESSED UP BRADY BUNCH?
Review: I've heard of some weird concepts coming out of Japanese manga and anime, and Marmalade Boy is no different. Miki Koishikawa, a first year high school student, is in the unenviable situation of hearing that her parents are getting a divorce. The reason why they're getting the divorce is the kicker. Miki's parents went away on vacation to Hawaii and while they were there, they met another couple, named the Matsuuras. Both couples fell in love with each other and their original partners became just friends. So anyway, they decide to husband and wife swap. They decide to get divorces and remarry each other. Not only that, they want to move into one house together and live in a sorta twisted communal dysfunctional zone. Only, it doesn't seem weird to them and they get along great. It's Miki that's the problem. Why can't the two couples see how crazy their ideas are? Things get worse when the Matsuura's kid, Yuu, a handsome boy of Miki's own age, seems to think that the double divorce/double marriage is ok.

So most of the first volume is spent on the premise and Miki's attempts to come to terms with what is ultimately out of her control, her parent's behavior. She also is attracted to Yuu, but all he seems to do is get on her nerves. Also complicating things is the fact that Yuu is transferring to her school. There's also former love interests of Yuu and Miki stirring up the pot at the same time.

I wasn't really impressed with this manga. It did have a couple of funny moments, but nothing laugh out loud hilarious. It also seemed a little too cutesy at times for me. The art is pretty good, but the dialogue and the situations left me a little bored. To me the premise seemed a little creepy actually. To me, it was about on a level with Saved by the Bell.

Summary: Marmalade boy series is sweet
Review: I've read the whole Marmalade boy series. Its a story that has love, comdey, surprises, and most of all...twists! Usually, I'm a person whos not into too mushy of a manga, but this series was cute and proved to be worth the 10 bucks. Though, I can recommend it, this won't be for everyones liking.

Check out: Paradise kiss, Fruits Basket, Kare Kono

Summary: The best book ever!
Review: If your an anime fan like I am then you should read this one! Even though it is a romatic comedy it is still funny. Once I started to read it I couldn't stop reading. All you anime fans out there try this series!

Summary: Yummy!
Review: Marmalade boy is a funny cute manga about a girl named Miki who's parents decide to get divorced, sad yes, but worse things have happened, then her parents tell her that they're not only getting divorced but swithching partners with another couple they met on vacation. Poor miki, she's horrified so she decides to tell her parents what she thinks about this whole mess but they don't really seem to care all that much. At a family with her mom, dad and other mom and dad miki finnally gets to meet her half brother Yuu, who is actually pretty cute (in miki's eyes) when she tries to tell her parents that she opposes what they're doing her half brother Yuu tells her to sit down!!! This is a great manga, but slightly soap operaish at times but still very much fun. The reason I gave it only 4 stars was becasue the drawings are way to simple for me, they kinda get boring at times. Otherwise a hilarious fun manga, you'll be hooked!
