Rating: Summary: Similarities, yes... Review: I've read the first 3 and a half of the Mates, Dates series and Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging as of today. I've been reading these reviews and seeing that a few people dislike Mates, Dates and consider them copies of the other series. Honestly, they are both witty, true to life and they go together great. Of course they have similarities: they all take place in London and concern the lives of teenage girls. However, I think they both bring in different aspects of friendship. Concerning the Mates, Dates since this is that review ;), the circle of friends is really developed throughout the course of the books. I also like how these books define the girls' character individually, giving them all different characteristics and likes/dislikes. The switching of narrators gives a different POV and insight to the goings-on. All in all, I find Mates, Dates to be thoroughly enjoyable and I think they are more than capable of standing on their own. I would definitely recommend that both series be read for the full effect, but for the faster read, go to Mates, Dates. They're quick, light-hearted, and as the cover says, "Great escapist reading."
Rating: Summary: Pleasure Reading Review: In the book Mates Dates and Inflatable Bras Lucy Lovering is going through the time in everyone's lives where they are the most confused about themselves, and are having self discovery. Lucy's best friend Nesta seems to be spending more time with the new girl Izzie more than she is with her. Lucy is afraid of loosing her best friend, and having no one. Until.... She spots him, the boy of her dreams. I would recommend this book to anyone with a lot of free time. This is one of those books that no one can put down. Through all the laughs and heartbreaks, overall this book is a strong four out of five star book.
Rating: Summary: A Plane Read Review: It is not as though I did not enjoy the book, it is just that I did not find it as funny as the Louise Rennison novels (Georgia Nicolson series). I read this book about two months after finishing the 4th Georgia Nicolson book and although I found this book amusing, I did not laugh out loud as I did with the Georgia Nicolson books. I thought that the teenage references were too cliche, and the author did not convince me to believe that this book was being written by a teenager. I recommend this book as a summer vacation read or plane-ride read, and for the preteen/young teen age group. Although I didn't love the first book I do intend on reading the rest of the books in the series.
Rating: Summary: Not very good Review: It was just a bad story line. She is a good writer, just not a good thinker. There isnt much going on it the book. It is almost like she tried to take the idea of Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging, and make it her own, but not sucessfully. Dont buy thiws book unless you are really really bord.

Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: Lucy is 14, yet looks like a 12-year-old. Boy that is. She's flat chested, short, and she just doesn't have the looks that she wants. Her two best friends, Nesta and Izzie, are the complete opposite of her. They are both 14, yet looks 16. Lucy decides, after falling in love with a guy at first sight, that she's going to change. She needs a makeover. Only she didn't realize how badly the makeover would turn out. Has she destroyed her looks even more than she thought they originally were? This is a hilarious books, with 3 characters that readers will be able to relate to instantly. Fans of Jacqueline Wilson's "Girls Trilogy" will relish in the likeness between the 2 series, and the similarities between the 3 characters. The supermodel-type, Alanis Morisette-type, and the left-out-type. This is a must read for everyone. Especially girls who LOVED "Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging", and the "Girls trilogy." I give this series 2 thumbs up. Erika Sorocco
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: No offense to the other people who wrote reviews, but this is a very good book. You write that you like the Georgia Nicolson saga better and not to bother with this book. Well, I do very much enjoy the books about Georgia Nicolson. They are halarious. But this book kind of helps you to get used to your life. It's about Lucy Lovering, a 14-year old petite blonde girl with a flat chest. She has been best buds with Izzy for her whole life and wants things to stay that way. Then the beautiful, glamorous Nesta comes around and Lucy isn't too happy. Izzy is hanging out with Nesta every second. While at the movies Lucy realizes that she still looks like a 12-year-old and they can pass for 16. Lucy doesn't want to look like their little sister who is forced to hang around. Lucy and Nesta all know exactly what they want to be. Lucy has no idea. She isn't good at ANYTHING! Her parents are hippies and her brothers are total ninnies. No guys ever fancy Lucy. When she's out with her friends everybody always checks them out but never her. When she sees this hot guy on the street, Lucy is in love. Lucy sees him talking to Nesta and figures that he must like her. Her life is ruined. But, he's actually Nesta's brother. Lucy has to find a way to make her breasts grow, get Tony to like her, write her essay, and find out who she really is. This is a really good book. Read the next few: Mates, Dates and Cosmic Kisses, Mates, Dates and Designer Divas, Mates, Dates and Sleepover Secrets and Mates, Dates and Sole Survivor.
Rating: Summary: Make a "Date" with this Book: Light and Sweet; just right! Review: Okay, my initial reaction to the title of this book was that it was a total rip-off of Louise Rennison's novels, and I was determined to read it, and then leave a scathingly honest review about it right here, revealing it to be a scam. Alas, you can see that this is not how it ended up. See, despite the main character resembling Rennison's Georgia (both are joke-prone English 14 year olds) she is completely unique and with different goals that her counterpart. I ended up enjoying every last word of this delicious novel. Lucy Loverling's life is coming undone. Suddenly, everyone is telling her to make descisions about her life she doesn't even want to think about yet. It seems like everyone else she knows, knows exactly what they want to do with their lives. Her best friend Izzie is apparently being stolen away from her by beautiful and poised Nesta, and she has to deal with her crazy and slightly poor family. Not to mention the gorgeous boy she falls for at first sight--who turns out to be Nesta's brother! A cute story about finding your identity and finding your friends. A happily ever after with fun characters who are well-rounded and geared for sequels to come. 4 stars because it was sweet and fun and meaningful, but it lost the fifth to unoriginallity. I can't wait to read the sequel! Have fun reading this feel-good novel and look out for future novels to come! Happy Reading!
Rating: Summary: Fun read Review: This book is filled with wit and quirky characters. I almost loved it as much as my favorite book, "A New Life" by Pamela D. Light.
Rating: Summary: It was alright Review: This book was cute, i suppose. It made for light reading (I read it all on a 6 hour plane ride), but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. The author seemed out of touch. She just threw in what she had seen about teenagers from her Businessweek. There were Leonardo DiCaprio and Spice Girl comments, like that's all teens know and love. It was cute, but I dont plan on reading the sequels.
