Summary: Best Book in the Series
Review: By Far, this is my favorite book in the Lioness series. All four of the books are excellent, but this is the book where we really meet Alanna for who she is... female. Alanna has been hiding her true identity from everyone. Forced by the rules only men can become knights, Alanna has secretly kept her female nature hidden from everyone but two friends Jon and George. In this novel, Alanna must face her greatest fears... falling in love and fighting her nemesis, Duke Roger. The suspense and romance make Alanna an excellent role model for any girl. She contains the vulnerability but strenghth that drives people to say females are an oxy-moron. In her weakness, Alanna triumphs over her enemies because her feminine nature many times keeps her from the prejudices, inability to open thinking and tendency towards segregation many of her male knight friends have. A truly enigmatic character, Alanna comes into her own in the In the Hand of the Goddess and this self-actualization process makes this book one of the best reads ever. I'm 25 and own this whole series and still read them when I'm in need of an inspiring female role model.

Summary: The adventure continues...
Review: Following their last adventures, Alanna and her friends continue on, Alanna not far from becoming knighted. Duke Roger, Alanna's mortal enemy, is getting more and more powerful every second, and so are Alanna's emotions. This book contains romance and for those who are wary of the love scenes, it's a part of life...deal with it...at that time, people married young and had children young. Alanna wasn't exactly a kid--so just read it! :) Great book!

Summary: Worth 15000000000000 Stars great book
Review: I had a friend recomend Alanna the First Adventure to me last year and fell in love with it. It is about this girl named Alanna that wants to become a knight but because she is a girl she is not alloud to. So she pretends to be a boy. She has lots of great atventures. Anyway this book is about when she becomes the prince's squire, and he finds out that she is a girl, and they have a love reationship, plus she is preparing for the dreadid ordeal of knighthood and all these things are going on plus she has to hid that she is a girl. It is a wonderful story that makes you feel like you are Alanna. Tamora pierce is a very good writer that deseves a lot of awards.I strongly recomend this book to anyone that loves fantasy but read Alanna the first atventure first.

P.S. This is the best book in the seris don't skip it.

Summary: NEATO!
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. After I borrowed the first one from a friend I couldn't wait to read this one. Even though this one was not as good as the first(sequals hardly ever are anyway)it kept me interested. I really enjoyed the interaction between Faithful and Alanna and the romance was a plus.

Summary: Loosen Up
Review: This book was wonderful, easily the best in the series, by the author and among the best i've ever read(check out wendy and richard pini for some other great books). But i do think some people need to loosen up over the romance, its not like there was anything explicit, like a book a teacher recommended me, maybe you should gripe about that. And besides, if the sex (which there really wasnt much of at all) why is the violence so acceptable, after all some kids COULD get nightmares from all those terrible battle scenes. And either way, both are components of life, all these books are about is the life of alanna of trebond, and most peoples lives invole that kind of thing. This book was incredible, whether or not you think that is appropriate.

p.s. to parents who dont think these are appropriate for young children. Maybe you should read them yoursleves and keep them for when your child is older, its definitley worth it!

Summary: Thank you Tamora Pierce!
Review: In the Hand of the Goddess is an excellent book, when I first got it I didn't get to sleep until after midnight because I had to finish it, I just couldn't put it down. Since then I have reread it at least ten times. This book mixes up magic, adventure, and romance, into the story of Allana's life as she fulfills her destiny. It is a wonderful book that me and several other people I know enjoy, if you have not read it it is definitly worth it.

Summary: Independent and Fantasy!
Review: Usually, the typical fantasy story is interpreted as a hero, and a helpless princess. That is definatly NOT the message behind this book! Independent and strong-willed, Alanna is the Lioness who is disguised as a boy to follow her dream and goal which is to be a Lady Knight. If you have any goal or dream in your life I'm sure you can relate to this book. The nickname "weakling" was starting to catch with me because people interpruted me as "fragile". After reading this book I decided to do something about that and designed a muscular building workout for myself. Needless to say the name "weakling" no longer belongs to me! I love books with strong characters and Alanna is definatly that. There is a little bit of everthing in this book, romance, fights, humor, magic, mystery..................! The quartet is terrific, and reading as Alanna grows, and goes on adventures is worth reading. I highly recomend it!

Summary: Song of the Lioness Quartet
Review: Tamora Pierce has beautifully written several series of books. My favorite being the series following Alanna, the Lioness. I first began reading these books when I was 12. I am now 27, and I have read these books over and over as a source of motivation. Like Alanna, I too became a "Warrior-Maiden" todays "WM" being a Woman Marine! As with many Marines, I wanted a tatoo which would depict my pride as a warrior. I asked my best friend to design it for me and in doing so I read him the Lioness collection so that his design might capture the image in my mind (and heart). He loved the story too, and a year later we got married. We have a daughter now. I named her Alanna Alessandra. She will be a year old this August--a Leo! I have already read them to her as well. It is my hope that my daughter will also face life with the same perseverance, courage and integrity of her namesake. Thank you Tamora, your books have brought me happiness in so many ways.---Cpl Z.Dacquel Ochoa, USMC

Summary: great!
Review: Oh, I love this book! In my opinion it is the best of the Alanna series, although the others are excellent also: I love Alanna, her friends, the adventure, Tortall, and the romance, etc. The author lets us really get to know the Alanna, which was nice. It is very well written and a lovely reread on a rainy day. Highly recommended (and much better than "Circle" which I didn't enjoy)!
