Rating: Summary: Good character, nice plot Review: Tamora Pierce continues the Song of the Lioness series with realistic characters and a captivating plot. I first read this book when I was 10: 6 years later, it is still one of my favorite books. When I went to Pierce's book signing, the fans ranged from elementary school children to senior citizens. This reflects the versatility of the characters and themes. Alanna is a teenager dealing with issues that all girls struggle with. She has a wellrounded personality, and she develops into a wonderful heroine. The book does have some romance. However, it is very minor, and there is not any detail. The romance helps to make Alanna real: if Pierce had ignored the topic of sex in her books, Alanna would not be so relatable to older readers. However, the tasteful manner in which the romance is portrayed is subtle enough that it is not inappropriate for younger readers.
Rating: Summary: Claires thoughts Review: In ths book, theres a perfect combination of adventure, courage, romance, bravery, and believing in yourself. In this book, Allana goes through the ordeal of knight hood, and begins seeing different points of view about how it is to love, and be loved. She also meddles with the much loved Duke of Conte, and cures her friend (and love) the prince of the sweating sickness, that even the best healer couldn't fix. Making this book even more unpredictable and exciting is the fact that Allanna is a chosen one, so with that I leave you to READ THIS BOOK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Rating: Summary: Favorite Book Review: This is a must read for every one, male or female, young or old. I'm a 16 year old girl and I can honestly say that I have read this book at least once a year since i was 11. I would have to say that this is one of my all time favorite books and has inspired me and all the people I have recomended it to.
Rating: Summary: SUCH a good book- a definate mustread Review: I think that this was definately one of the most awsome boks I have ever read! This is definately one of Tamora Pierces best books yet! I wouldnt recomend it to the gr.5 readers though like the Library thing says, it kinda has some mature content
Rating: Summary: Alanna Rocks! Review: I have read In the Hand of the Goddess at least five times, and I have yet to tire of it. This one focuses on the conflicts in Alanna's heart. Her three fears are pointed out to her by a goddess. There is a lot of emotion as in all Tamora Pierce books. This one's my favorite of the Song of the Lioness Quartet.
Rating: Summary: REMARKABLY WRITTEN!!! Review: The second installment of Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness Quartet was every bit as promising as the first. In this book, Alanna is a squire and forced to face her fears including love, Duke Roger, and the Ordeal of Knighthood. The next four years of Alanna's life are portrayed in an exciting adventure including a war, her first romantic experience, more life threatening experiences, and new enemies. Although this book may be frowned upon as inappropriate to the younger audience, for young adults and teenagers, this should be an enthralling book that will captivate your imagination and sweep you into Alanna's world.
Rating: Summary: A great book but was it ALL neccesary? Review: Dear readers, I really liked this book and found that I enjoy Tamora Pierce's style of writing. The plot and the characters (especially Alana) were great. However, I did not feel comfortable with all the romance and sexual content of the book. Yes, I understand that it's normal for a teenager girl to fall in love but as a sixteen year old, I still don't see the neccesity of the sexual content (whether graphic or not). Please share your opinion. Thanks. Annie G.
Rating: Summary: Can't Wait to Read the Third Book!! Review: This book is GREAT! I've read the first book too, so you might find a review by me there. Anyway, Alanna is one of my favorite characters. This book alone is worth your money but I think you should give the whole series a chance (why am I talking? I only reaf half of the series!). I might not sound enthusiastic, but I really, really recommend this book. Anyway, See Ya!
Rating: Summary: My favourite one... Review: I have to admit that out of BOTH the Alanna and Keladry quartets, this is my favourite book of them all... well, it's pretty closely tied with the 4th book in this series.... This book is amazing. Even though I loved both Alanna and Keladry, Alanna was my favourite. She had a mix of everything.... including her romance with George, which was my favourite part of all. This book is just .. WONDERFUL! It'll make you laugh, scream, smile, and cry! I love it and I know you will too!!!
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK EVER Review: This is the best book of all tamora pierce's books. In the Hand of the Goddess has it all: a terrific plot (face it, you people) adventure, mystery, romance, action, war, love, and so much more. Alanna is the most enjoyable character in history; she isn't perfect--she is determined to be a knight in a man's world. This is the best book in the greatest series! ... The sexual content is NOT that graphic, I see worse stuff on t.v.... Trust me, your children see and hear worst things on television. To anyone who hasn't read it: this is the best book in the world!! It's a girl-kick-butt series. No matter what any critics say on here, it's the best!
