Rating: Summary: Yet Another Winner Review: After proving herself as a boy and girl, Alanna has been chosen to be the squire of her best friend and prince, Jonathan. The second book in The Song of the Lioness series was one of my favorites. It's deals with the hardships romance and the on going romance between Alanna and Jonathan. Also, the dislike of Jonathan Cousin Roger intensifies and provides successful suspense. God, this was a good book.
Rating: Summary: The best book in the world Review: This book is the best of all of Ms. Pierce's books. About Alanna, a girl who is disguised as a boy to become a knight. She is a Squire, only a few years away from her goal. Set in Tortall, a magic land of magic and chivalry, you will be hooked as you read of Alanna, her confusion about her romance with Prince Jonathan, and perhaps one with the King of Thieves. You will go to war with her, slay bandits, and meet goddesses as well HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Rating: Summary: Heorism with a Twist Review: Welcome back to Tortall. Alanna is back with flare. Those who read the first book know that Alanna uses her mind, sword, and tounge as weapons. She is a quick witted now squire, in the Princes service. We meet a new frined in this book. And an old friends change (some for the better, some for the worst). The second of Mrs. Pierces Song of the Lioness series is a must read and the best out of all the series. *** If you like these books you would also like The Wind Singer by William Nicholson; The Fires of Windameir by neil Hancock; Wolf Tower by Tannith Lee; The Earthsea Cycle by ursula Le Guin; Shakespeares Stealer by Gary Blackwood; Witch Child by Celia Rees; The Prince in Waiting by John Christopher.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: I found this book to be even better than the first one. It covers Alanna's years as a squire and a knight. She is a squire to one of her best friends, Jonathan, who is also the Prince of Tortall. She is very much expected to be the best to be protecting and taking care of the future king of the land. She does her job well, and goes on through many trials and perils, and then it is her turn to be a knight. It will finally be time to reveal the secret to everyone. It will of course be the scandal, but she is prepared for it. Anyone that was caught in the excitement of the last book must read this book!!
Rating: Summary: Well written,But... Review: This book was very well written but i dont think you should read this if your in 5th 6th or 7th grade. You really should NOT be pretty much teaching kids about well... you Know what. It is just someting they dont need to know. But in battels and stuff other than romanse this book would get 5 stars. The battles were well described and it made me want to keep reading this book. All in all this book should not get eithe a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
Rating: Summary: Review by me Review: I really like all of the books in the Song of The Lioness Quartet. This was an excellent book in my oppinion. It had a very good plot. It's all about how Alanna (Alan) is dressing as a boy and trying to win the right to be a knight. In this book I found that it covered a vast amount of things that could happen in war, treachery, along with a touch of romance and other such complications. There was one review where the reviewer mentioned that the romance between Jonathan and Alanna was a bit odd. As she said, you don't just sleep with someone just 3 minutes after you realize you like him. But, as the reveiwer did not add, that's the way Tamora Peirce is, slight hints and then a huge love scene (if you don't believe me, read the last book in the Immortals seires). Anyway, it was a great book and I'd suggest it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: The BEST book I have read Review: I read a lot and I love Tamora's books. I'm in the middle of the third addition of this series. While a good book it just is kinda disapointing after reading such a fantastic book as this one. Its got it all romance action mystery I finished in less than 24 hours I just couldn't put it down seriously!!You have to get it.
Rating: Summary: The love of my life! Review: Last year I bought this book and I was thrilled. Not only was this book as good as the first, it was better. Even more thrilling as the first Alanna adventures with Jon and George. Here she brings new suspissions to herself. I would recommend this to all kids my age(12) and ages around my age.
Rating: Summary: A great book for young adults Review: This is a really good book, but I rated it with four stars because she does some bad things. It doesn't describe to much but a young child shouldn't read that part. Other wise the book is really good.
Rating: Summary: Excellent story, but not for indicated age group Review: Tamora Pierce weaves an engaging and exciting story, with all the elements necessary for a good fantasy. Her heroine is fallable and human, yet honorable and admirable in many ways. The story moves along well - keeping the reader on the edge of her/his seat. My concern is that the book and reviews state it is geared for 5th through 8th graders, yet the heroine engages in sex outside of marriage in this and the subsequent books of the series. It is not appropriate or healthy to encourage this age group to think about sex or to give them a heroine who behaves immorally. This is really unfortunate, since Ms. Pierce is an excellent writer and the objectionable parts of the book don't really add anything to the story.
