Rating: Summary: This is my son's favorite bedtime story (and mine) Review: We read this book every night before bedtime and sing the song to each other. As a single parentof a boy I love that the story is geared toward mothers and son's without making any mention of anything other than their special relationship. The ending actually makes me tear up on occasion, because the story is so touching and true to life. Robert Munsch truly captures the mother-son relationship in a way I've yet to see elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: this is a project for school Review: My mother always used to read this book to me when I was younger. I like the book a lot it represents that no matter how old children get or how they act like when they are 2 years old and throw stuff all over the place or make a mess of everything. Their parents still love them and that some day the children will show their appreciation and love back. It also shows how some songs or traditions are passed on because at the end the son goes and sings the song to his son. I really enjoyed this book and when some day I have kids I will get this book for them because of how it affected me when I was younger.
Rating: Summary: Love You Forever Review: My son's first grade teacher read this book to a classroom of adults on parents night. I wasn't the only parent that cried and couldn't stop. Maybe it was the way the teacher read it out loud, maybe it was just the mood, whatever it was, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. It was a favorite of my son's for many years. I also purchased the tape and we played it in the car many mornings on the way to school. Over the years I have bought this book as gifts for all new baby boys.
Rating: Summary: Touching story of devotion Review: This story is often misconstrued by adults. My mother bought this book for me when I was 7 and I have loved it ever since. I am now 21 and if I ever decide to have children, this is one of the first books I would give to them. It is a tender story of devotion and love; something this world is lacking in. I highly suggest you find a copy of this book and read it for yourself, so you are not mislead by negative reviews.
Rating: Summary: Reminiscent of "The Giving Tree" Review: My five year old isn't very fond of this book. He likes it, but I don't think that he understands it. He thinks it's pretty silly that an old lady would rock her adult son like a baby. I'm pretty sure that I won't read it to him again until he's old enough to understand. However, I'll read it to myself often. I think this might be my favorite book of all time. As a mother, I can relate to the love in this book. It's not about an old woman who rocks her son like an infant for as long as she lives--it's about her love for her son--it never waivers, it never changes. And in loving her son so deeply, she teaches him to love his own child with the same dedication. It reminds me of the Giving Tree and how the tree gave everything it had to the boy it loved so much. Instead, the mother in this book is giving every ounce of her love to her son. It's beautiful...
Rating: Summary: 143 Bruce Review: This is a great story. The storyline is decodable and predictable, and a great story to get a childs attention. For my kindergarteners, I love the story because it teaches them about change. Some of my students believe they will be five years old forever. What a great attitude. You can use this concept of change, and bring it into the concept of time, days of the week, months of the year, seasons, and themselves- "All About Me." This book was given to my son on his first birthday by my mother, so, I was pretty choked up when I read it. I was ready for the tears when Dr. Jeff Lee had a student in our Education Technology class read it to us. Since I know more about his connection with you, Mr. Munsch, the story is now a part of my life. I will now be closer to "Love You Forever" than I had been. Thank you for your gift to education and the heart. Bruce Ridill
Rating: Summary: Love You Forever Review: I loved the story. The predictable language is great for young children and the story is heart warming for adults. It presents the reader to the worse case scenarios of stages parents go through with their children and counter acts them with love. It's a great message to send to our young children. All too often parents do not express their love to their children as verbally as maybe they should. This story shows in an exaggerated and even unrealistic way how a mother tells her son that she loves him. Thus this book is a great introduction to the word "I love you" towards our children if it is not a word being used at home. After reading this book parents can talk to their children about not being sneaky about saying "I love you" and that despite the mistakes they do we will always love them.
Rating: Summary: How a mother feels Review: This book is an exaggerated story to simply show how all mothers (or fathers) feel about their children. Of course it is a little far fetched when she is climbing in her grown sons window at night...but that what makes it funny and entertaining for the kids. Overall, I think this is a good book with a wonderful message about love.
Rating: Summary: A great book for parent and child Review: I just heard this book read aloud to my class. As I listened to the story, I pictured my twin girls in my arms. Maybe I'm just becoming sappy in my advanced age, but the book really touched me. I'm sure my girls will enjoy hearing mommy or daddy reading this book to them. The message to all kids is that you will always be your parents' child and their love for you is unconditional. What better message can we send our children?
Rating: Summary: Love You Forever Review Review: This book had a lot of meaning in that it showed that the relationship between a mother and her son could go a long way. It proved to me that many times a son or daughter may not appear to be affectionate but still listen when they do not appear to be. As we found out, the son knew the words to the song and used them with his newly born daughter. Love You Forever it a heart riviting, warm story that a mother and father could share with their children.
