Rating: Summary: Love you Forever Review: This book is about the love of a mother for her child, and in time, her son returns this love to her. I really enjoyed this book because it taught us that even though growing up can be hard on a mother, she still shows her love to her son. My mother used to read this book to me everynight, and when i am a mother, i will read it to my children. My favorite thing about this book, however is that once that little boy grew up, he held and rocked his mother, just as she did to him. I think its just a great, loving book.
Rating: Summary: So sweet Review: My daughter loves this book. She thinks it's funny when the little boy makes a mess of the bathroom, and when hes a teenager she thinks he looks silly. This book has helped her to understand that I will always lover her no matter what she does. I cry every time I read it, and I don't think this story is weird at all.
Rating: Summary: Very Touching Book Review: I bought this book for my daughter last night. As I read it, I cried. My husband promptly made fun of me. Then, after I put our daughter to sleep, I found him crying over the same book - he looked up and said "You got me!" I see some reviews state that the mother is stalking her son and that this is dysfunctional love. Personally, I took the Mom climbing in the window as a parody (think sitcom) and thought it was kind of amusing. I don't think you are really supposed to read too much into that. As far as dysfunctional love, I do not agree with that at all. This is a story of the unconditional love a parent has for their child. And while of course the relationship between a child and parent should grow as the child grows, the nature of this love does not necessarily change. I don't think mine will, when my little girl is 25, she will still be my baby, even though I'll treat her as an adult. Finally, someone thought it was wrong that the son has a daughter, but not a wife. That is infered. A wife is not mentioned, but neither is a daughter until the very end. Personally, I assume he has a wife. And if he does not, that would NOT mean that he loves his mother or child any less. I think this is a beautiful story, I will be buying copies for my sister and my friends too.
Rating: Summary: Creepy & sad Review: Sad, scary, creepy. I can't believe it's so popular and that everybody doesn't have a problem with this dysfunctional mother/child relationship. The mother's actions are inappropriate and invasive and it is not surprising that once her son has reached adulthood, he has a child but, seems not to have a wife. Spooky drawings of the mother crawling around, too. Lastly, it's sad when the adoring mother is too old & sick to stalk her son. Overall, one of the wierdest & worst.
Rating: Summary: The Best Children's/Parent's Book! Review: I enjoy this book so much because it really touches my heart. There's always been a special bond portrayed between a mother and her child and this book states everything perfectly, down to the very last line. I cry every single time I read this book because I think of it as simple, children's poetry portraying this special love a mother has for her child and in the end, the way the son portrays his love for his mother. I don't know of anyone who hasn't read or been read this book at a baby shower or at another place. It's completely appropriate for a baby shower and, just incase you decide to read it at a shower, have a box of Kleenex nearby!
Rating: Summary: A marvelous and reassuring book Review: I love this book. I was introduced to it by a friend when my older kids were "too old for baby books". But I read it, and choked up -- and I read it to them, and they -- rambunctions preteenaged boys that they were, grinned and hugged me, and "I love yout forever" became a ritual in our house...even though they were "too old". When my first grand daughter was born last year, I sent this book to her, so her Mamma and Pappa can read it to her ... and then I found out that I have another little one on the way, so I'm ordering him his very own copy. True, Mamma crawling through the winder of her adult son's bedroom to rock him and tell him how much she loves him is a little odd...until you think about the way a very young child sees the world. They want to grow up, but they truly cannot imagine not "needing" Mamma and Pappa in the way they do at two or three. This books reassures the little ones that they can grow up and take their place in adult life and Mamma's love for them won't change. Later, they'll be ready to understand that the love will be the same, but the manifestation will change...but why hurry them to that point? Childhood is so sweet and far, far too short.
Rating: Summary: ... Review: ... If this is the most disturbing book you have ever read then I think you probably don't read much. Ever heard of, or read, Steven King? Perhaps a mother climbing into her grown sons window to rock him and tell him she loves him is a little far fetched but children have something called an imagination, something you lack. I only wish that my mother could do that when I really need her to be close to me. This is the best book I have ever read... in fact I still read it to my sons today and they are 17 and 13 years old. We not only get a kick out of it but we laugh and share old times about when they were babies. PS My parents are close, personal friends with Robert Munsch and he took time out of his busy schedule to meet with my sons during our family vacation and he is the kindest most gentle of people... there are much worse things in the world than reading your children this book.
Rating: Summary: Touching and True... Review: I first read this book to my oldest son 10 years ago, and it is just as touching and real for me today. It's not often that a simple children's book so accurately depicts the bond between a parent and child. It's up there with "The Giving Tree." The reviewer who found it disturbing totally missed the point.
Rating: Summary: Freightening Book. Review: This is the most disturbing childrens book I have ever read. The mother climbs in the grown sons window? Psycho mother. The pictures are just as disturbing as the story. I understand the concept of role reversal, but this story and the pictures that go along with it seem a little exaggerated. I would NOT show this to my child.
Rating: Summary: love you forever Review: This book was a really good book because it showed the love of a mother for her son, and later on the love of a son for his mother. I liked it because it shows the special relatinnship between a mother and son.
