Summary: A touching, beautiful book
Review: I will never forget my first experience with this book. I was substitute teaching in a first grade class right before Mother's Day. I had no idea what I was facing when I had to help the students "practice" their presentation of the book for their parents and ended up hiding behind the book with tears in my eyes as the children recited the rhyme. I gave it to my mom and both my grandmothers, one of whom I was privileged to help take care of in her final months. This book deeply resonates with everyone I know who has read it.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: I think that people need to stop over-analyzing this book. It's just about a mother's love for her son. I don't think some of the ideas seem too logical. I mean, how can an old woman pick up a grown man. I think it's just symbolically saying that a mother's love for her child never ends.

Summary: This book is not for children.
Review: This book is sweet and touching if you happen to be trying to explain the cycle of life and death to your toddler (that is,that one day you will die and they will too). Otherwise, I think it's completely inappropriate for young children. It's sad and depressing. Reading time should be fun for kids. While we may want them to ask questions and experience a wide range of emotions, this book only serves to give them an insecure, queasy feeling that they are too young to name. I don't know about you, but that's not the reaction I'm aiming for when I read to my kids. I know others have said it but believe me, it bares repeating. This book is creepy.

Summary: Sentimental favorite
Review: I'd highly recommend this to any parent or child! It makes a great gift for new parents. I'm reminded not to take my child or my parents for granted. Time is precious!

Summary: Creepy
Review: Sorry, I know a lot of people really love this book and think its message is very sweet, but it gives me the willies. I get the same icked out feeling from The Runaway Bunny, FWIW.

Summary: LOVE YOU FOREVER
Review: My sister found this book when both of our children were grown and we did not yet have Grandchildren . Once I read it I had to buy it for my grown children. This book is not only for the young, but anyone with children of any age. I have bought it for friends and everyone loves it. I now have Grandchildren and everytime they come over we have to read it. I still can't get all the way throught it without a tear.

Summary: This book will always stick with you.
Review: I have always loved this book. When I was in the first grade I remember doing a little play on this book for Mother's Day. The story has always stuck with me. I just remember my Mom loving this book. And believe me you will too.

Summary: Wonderful! My OB gave it to me as a gift and we love it!
Review: My 2yo son asks for this book by name for his bedtime story.

Summary: Uggh!
Review: This book really gives me the creeps. We received a copy as gift and I gave it away. I know it's very popular, more so with adults than children, but I think you either love it or hate it. I hated it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Every mother of boys should have this!
Review: The mother of a friend gave me this book when my first of three sons was born. She wrote in the cover that the all mothers of boys should have a copy of this. I find it to hit home as my son's are "busy" and yet I do love them so much. I would cry a little when I read it. With three boys in the house, I can attest at least to the early stages illustrated here. It's a good baby gift to new mothers with little boys.
