Summary: The very best story a parent can read to their child
Review: This story has been sort of a family tradition for us. It was shown to me by my grandmother just before she died and the message was so touching that I went out and bought it for my daughter; only it remains with all my personal keepsakes! I defy any parent to read this story to their child and not come away from it with a tear in their eye and squeezing their child just a little bit tighter. It is the amazing yet true story of how a child can drive a parent crazy with their behavior but the parent can still love them with all their hearts, no matter how old they get. It also shows how that love is shared in the feelings of the child. It reminds me of what my mother always said to us "I may not like the things you do, but I will always love you". Someday I will pass this book on to my daughter; maybe when she has children of her own, but for now I'm buying it for a young friend of mine who with her new baby boy is just beginning to know a love so strong as one has never known before they look at the face of their "very new baby... and rock them back and forth... and sing 'I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be.' "

Summary: love you forever
Review: The author did an outstanding job writing this story. At the time that I purchased this book my teenaged son and I were at odds with each others. Then I read this book which was recommended to me by a friend who also had a teenage son at the time. The story melted my heart. I began to cry as I read the book in the store. I remembered every stage of his childhood.I also knew that I must tell my son that I loved him especially during that period. This story inspired me to say I love you forever, no matter what and for always. He is now 22 years old and he still owns the book I gave him about 7 years ago. It touches your heart. It is a book for all ages. Thank you for writing this book.

Summary: starts off ok... then gets creepy.. and why no dad?
Review: its one thing to tell kids they are loved unconditionally, but climbing up a ladder into her grown sons apt bedroom so she can hold him in his sleep is going too far, hello... there is a lovely new invention called the telephone!

i dont think four year olds should have to think far enough into the future to picture their parents as infirm elderly people, that may be the reality, but isnt it the job of parents to SHELTER their children from the harsher realities of life while they are young.

why is it only the mother who holds her child so devotedly? where is the father, one thing i dont like about so much childrens fiction is th lack of any fathers within the framework of the stories, let alone a loving father.

Summary: WONDERFUL FOR GROWN-UPS TOO!
Review: This is a book that you, as a grown-up reading it to your child or just for yourself, will have a hard time getting through it without shedding some tears. It is a sensitive, beautiful, loving book that chokes me up EVERYTIME I read it... and I read it over and over again and still get the same results. I must commend Robert Munsch on this incredible story. Anyone that ever was a mother or child can relate tenderly to this beautiful piece of litary artwork. I LOVE THIS BOOK AND I WILL LOVE THIS BOOK FOREVER!!!

Summary: This is a wonderful book
Review: This book given to me by a friend when I was pregnant with my first child (a boy). I cried the first time I read it (before he was born). Now every time I read it to him, I still get teary-eyed. A mothers love for her child is a powerful thing. It's sad to see some people find that dysfunctional or offending. I myself would never climb into my grown sons window, but the point is that no matter how old your children are, in a mothers heart, they are still as special as the day they were born.

Summary: wonderfully silly and heartwarming
Review: My family and I had the opportunity to hear Robert Munsch tell his stories to a room full of kids and thier parents at a storytelling/Family reunion at Saint Vincents College in PA. The auditorium was full of giggles from Robert's wild use of exageration and full of tears from mom's and dad's that know the love that he writes about. For those of you who feel "love you forever' story is bizarre, check out his other books...Alligator Baby, Good Familes Dont, or The Dark. ALL his books are silly and full of over exageration...thats his style. They are meant to make kids LAUGH. Just so happens that this book makes you laugh AND cry!

Summary: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
Review: If you have never read this book be ready to get that tear in your eyes and the lump in your throat when you read it to your child. This book is a must for EVERY PARENT!! And the real reward is the first time your little one comes to you and says "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my daddy(or mommy) you'll be." You are not human if that doesn't get you a little choked up. This book helps parents and children relate in a way no other book can. You will never regret buying this book and may soon be here telling others about it just like I am.

Summary: This is a heartwarming, extremely touching book!
Review: I just read this book yesterday (the French version, actually!) for the first time. It was a gift from a friend, so I read it aloud to my 7 month old son, and by the time I reached the end I was in tears! I can't believe that anyone could actually find this book offensive or misguided in any way, it is a pure expression of a mother's limitless love for her child. Sure, it's preposterous that a mom would really drive across town with a ladder on the roof of her car to sneak in her son's room and rock him and sing to him while he's sleeping, but I think any loving parent can relate to the sentiment! It's only a story, people! I think this is one of the most heartfelt, sweetest books I've ever read, and I would highly recommend it for children and parents alike!

Summary: One of the worst I've seen yet !
Review: This is a book about dysfunction and a mother's inability to let go appropriately of her child. When mother continues her serenading of the sleeping son, even into adulthood by going to his house and sneaking in the window with the ladder tied to the top of her pickup truck,....well, I just couldn't take anymore. This is not a book my child will see because the values expressed therein should not be admired or perpetuated. Even the lullaby itself is limited. Why? Because a mother's true love continues even after her death - in spirit! And why cause a child to think about mom's love ending with her death? Why cause a child to think about mom's death at all? This is simply a terrible book in all aspects.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I still cry when I read it to my fourth child
Review: No one can imagine the love in the heart of a woman and that love does not dimish with additional children or with time. This book has captured that timeless beauty of motherhood.
