Summary: This book will bring you back to your childhood....
Review: Beautiful, beautiful book. I came across this book last October and was in a rush and did not buy it. Well I came back for it a a month later and of course I could not find it (November - one month before Christmas - what was I thinking?!)

To make the long story short I just came across it while shopping for other books and this time I grabbed from the shelf. It is absolutely beautiful, the paintings are exquisite and I just feel like I am a little girl again....

Buy this book for you, your family, as a keep sake for generations to come.

Summary: Finally! Childhood Completion
Review: First of all, I am thrilled these books and drawings are still available. My sister and I recieved three of the books as gifts when were children and have fought over possession of them ever since. Thank goodness my sister managed to keep the three we had all these years (I am 35 now). I always thought they were just gorgeous little books someone had stumbled upon and we'd never be able to complete our set. I remember staring at the rich and vibrant colors and the charming little fairies for hours as a child. Upon a recent viewing of the books you could even see where I had dog-eared my favorite drawings and poems. I still can't effectively put into words what drew me so deeply to these books, but I can say that even as an adult, they hold every bit as much charm.
God bless the internet as I was able to finally track down the rest of the books. I am also thrilled that all the books are now available in one volume so that my sister and I no longer have to fight over rights to these precious volumes. I have even bought the remaining volumes for her children so that "our" collection will be complete and continue to mesmerize my niece and nephew as they did their mother and auntie sooooo many years ago!

Summary: Wonderfully Imaginative
Review: I certainly wouldn't have rated this series of fairy books as the typical browsing material of your regular guy aged 18 - 25. Football statistics ... sure! Music weekly ... absolutely! Whimsical directories of flowers and their corresponding fairy folk ... Hmnnn, not likely.

And yet 20 years ago, in the village bookshop, Cranleigh, Surrey, England, I accidentally selected the Flower Fairies of Summer, more or less at random, from a stack on a table at the back of the cave-esque Dickensian little shop. I was instantly captivated and placed under the spell of the Folk of the pages within. The illustrations were literally spell-binding!

Over the next few years I collected them all and referred to them often for my own aspirations to illustrate. The little characters are quite beguiling in their environmental surroundings. Sadly, my collection was lost in a move and when I tried to replace them I found they were discontinued! I was aghast! Irked, that such a superb collection should be out of print and was thoroughly cheesed off with the publishing industry at large.

Then, in 1998, I was overjoyed to find a superb collection of the entire set, beautifully bound and packaged in a ribbon-tied box in a shop in Chichester. I readily shelled out the not insignificant sum of £55.00 (+/- $80.00) and it now takes pride of place on my shelves. I look through them often.

It is therefore with great enthusiasm that I encourage everyone reading this review to become acquainted with the works of Cicely Mary Barker, for themselves and their children, and of course, the children in themselves. The books are quite magical!

Summary: Wonderful Collection
Review: I have loved fairies all my life but only discovered the Flower Fairies a few years ago when I received a calendar as a gift. I immediately started scouring bookstores to try to find the books. What a joy to have them all in one collected work! The color and detail of the artwork is breathtaking, the poems are lovely! This is truly a must have for fairy collectors. I seek out all kinds of things relating to fairy folk, including some of the bad pixies like boggans and fachans. This book is truly one of the most beautiful finds to add to my collection. I don't believe anyone could be disappointed in this book.

Summary: exquisite poems and pictures
Review: I loved the pictures so much, I decided to paint a picture of the willow fairie. The amount of fairies she put in is amazing, every page is alive.

Summary: "Flower Fairies Collection" enchants both young and old.
Review: If you long for a simple retreat, a few moments spent with the charming "Flower Fairies" will whisk you away to a better place. Not only are Cicely Mary Barker's friends delightful little sprites but the attention to detail in her flowers brings a new appreciation to the wonder of nature that surrounds us all. From the lowliest wayside weed to the splendour of the rose, each subject chosen by Miss Barker is given reverential treatment. Once seen, the beauty of this collection cannot be forgotten.
