Summary: A Must-Have Primer to Dr. Seuss' Fanciful World
Review: My mother gave me this book when I was pregnant with my first child. My husband and I read it frequently to our son (now 3) in utero. I have since purchased it for every expectant parent I know. If you love Dr. Suess, and are expecting, you must have this book.

The book is a short compilation of Dr. Suess favorites. It introduces the newcomer to all the imaginative characters of Dr. Seuss' creative mind. It's also great practice for parents-to-be to get back into the swing of reading aloud. The beauty of the book is in its rhythm and rhyming, which captivate the developing mind of a child. Our son who was read this book in utero is now a book fanatic and constantly makes up rhyming words. I believe this is a direct result of his exposure to this and other Seuss books.

Summary: Great for a baby in utero, but......
Review: Not too great for a toddler!!! When I first ordered this book, I thought it was the original one, not one that was to be read in utero. I was also suprised at how tiny the book was.

I got this book AFTER my daughter was born, so I never actually got the chance to read it to her while she was still in the womb. I recently started to read this book to my daughter a few months ago, she was a little over 1 year.

She dosen't seem to enjoy it very much and I think the book is way too long to hold her interest. I also think some of the language and rhyming is a little hard for her to grasp.

My recommendation is that if you want to purchase this book, do it while your baby is in utero and read it to him/her until the birth. After the birth, get the original version.

Summary: The Perfect Baby Shower Gift
Review: Of all the gifts my wife and I received for our first baby, this was undoubtedly the best. Not only did it give me, a first time father, the chance to bond with our son, it gave both of us a great deal to think about as well. Today, a year later, I can't even think about this book without a tear coming to my eyes. I highly recommend it for any parents-to-be, and it truly makes a gift that will last a lifetime.

Summary: Okay for babies in utero, but less so for older kids.
Review: Our kids love Dr. Seuss in general, but this book hasn't been popular. Part of the problem is that many of the concepts are abstract and advanced, and thus difficult for kids ages 2-6 to grasp even with explanations. This is okay if you are reading the book to babies "in utero", as the cover suggests you do, but not for those who've learned to talk. The other problem is that the language, pace, and imagery are not up to the standards established in the earlier Seuss books. It's as if, near the end of Theodore Geisel's life, others were ghost-writing and attempting to imitate his style.

My advice: Stick with Sneetches, Horton, Bartholomew, the Cat in the Hat, Yertle and all the rest, and leave this on the shelf after your kid starts to talk.

Summary: Outstanding book!
Review: someone ealier seems to have missed the point of this book. While every Dr. Seuss book I can think of is geared for kids, this one is for expecting parents, this isnt to say kids wont enjoy it as well. I bought this book for my wife during our 7th month and was immediatly on her good side! (which is good because all too often I'm on her bad side! :p)

Fathers to be tip: buy this book for your expectant mom, you wont regret it one bit

Summary: Not very cute or interesting
Review: Sure it rhymes, but it was so small a child would not find it stimulating (tiny drawings). Mostly, it just referred to other Seuss books, without telling a story or anything. If you are going to read to a baby in the womb, you have a captive audience. Why not read Shakespeare, Milton or something more educational?

Summary: Should be the First Suess book in any Collection
Review: The best book for the expecting parents. It's a wonderful way to start your child on the works of Dr. Suess. We will give this and at least one other Dr. Suess title to expecting parents from now on. We found it amusing and a delightful way to read to our unborn child.

Summary: Snippets of Suess favorites to read to baby while in utero
Review: They say we should start reading to baby before s/he's even born and this cute book is supposedly for doing just that. It's 1 or 2 paragraph snippets from varoius Dr. Suess classics. The rhyming verses bounce along simply and you'll know it by heart after 10 reads. Mommy to be says she can sometimes feel the baby move as I read to her belly. A cute baby book.

Summary: A wonderful book
Review: This book is so wonderful. My mom bought this for me when I first found out I was pregnant with my son. My husband would read it to the baby all the time and it made it a wonderful family bonding time.

Now that my best friend is going to have a baby I am going to pass a long the tradition of having this book to read to the baby before it is born. And I know she is gonna love it.
