Rating: Summary: MAT 146 Review Review: I am a Pima College student, majoring in Elementary Education. This book was a great book, to read to resource room class. Since there are so many different ages in the class everyone was able to enjoy and understand the book. This book also allowed the first graders in the class to participate along with the older students. I enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it for use in elementary classrooms.

Rating: Summary: The Greedy Triangle Review: I am a student at Pima College and recently had to read this book to a group of younger students. Let me tell you that the group of 3rd graders loved this book more than I did. It kept them focused and amused, and I don't even think they realized they were learning a little geometry. I think this book was easy to get the children involved in and ask them questions. I also think this book was perfect for 3rd graders, but could be used with younger or older students also. Not only does it help with math, but it sends out a valuable message to be happy with who you are.

Rating: Summary: Shapes, shapes, everywhere! Review: I am an elementary education student at the University of Arizona South and recently read The Greedy Triangle to a group of first graders learning about the basics of geometry. The fact that the book illustrates where geometric shapes can be found in natural and man-made objects helped open the children's eyes to geometry. It also helped that these shapes had feelings, ideas, emotions, likes, and dislikes. It made them more accessible and approachable. As the triangle metamorphosed into a series of increasingly complicated and advanced shapes, the children became fascinated about how very many geometric shapes there are. By the end, when the almost circular shape decides it liked being a triangle most of all and returns to the shape it had originally, it helped to reinforce in the children that each of them is special because of, and for, their unique and individual selves. This book opened a great discussion about what geometric shapes the children saw everyday, and extended into a walk around the school grounds to locate and identify the geometric shapes they could find. This is a wonderful book to use to indroduce geometry to students and to open their minds and eyes to the mathematical world around them!
Rating: Summary: The Greedy Triangle: A Great Find Review: I am currently a student (...). I read The Greedy Triangle to a second grade class and they loved it! This book is great for elementary age students because it indroduces geometry in a fun way. The story begins with a triangle not being happy with himelf and wanting to change into another shape. The triangle then on each page gets another side which changes him into a different geometric shape. The book also gives the names of the different geometric shapes and associates the shapes with everyday items that kids can relate to. At the end of the story the triangle decides he was happy just being a triangle. This book gives a message to kids to be happy and proud of who they are. I would recommend this book for elementary school teachers, it was a great find!
Rating: Summary: Excellent resource and entertaining for students! Review: I have used this book in several different ways in kindergarten and first grade classrooms. I have used it as an anticipatory set for shape collages infusing art and math by using die cut shapes, gluing them to construction paper and drawing around them to show how we see shapes in our environment. Children love the bright pictures and the predictability of the story's sequence. I have used it as a way to reinforce how important some shapes are in our environment, like the triangle and the many uses it has in buildings and bridges... Great way to link to real world applications for kids. What a fun book!
Rating: Summary: The Greedy Triangle Review: I loved the Greedy Triangle, so did a tough group of 4th graders.I think it's an excellent tool to introduce Geometry in the classroom. It has a nice way of looking at everything as a shape and that shapes are Geometry, even though many students think they are just shapes. I would recommend this book to for all elementary grades.
Rating: Summary: The Greedy Triangle an excellent teaching tool for kids. Review: I read The Greedy Triangle to a group of third grades. What was perfect was that the teacher of this class had just been going over geometry with the students, so they were able to name many of the shapes that the triangle became in his quest for the perfectly exciting shape (which happened to be a triangle). The students were interested in the story and with the pictures. I own this book and will use it as a teaching tool when I become a teacher.
