Rating: Summary: Great book to help teach children shapes Review: I read this book to a group of second graders and they enjoyed it. This book is a wonderful book that teaches the names of shapes, points out different ways shapes are used and different places shapes can be found. When teaching children about shapes this is a good book to read to them. It could lead to a great discussion about shapes later. It also has a good story line about being content with who you are and what you have. The Triangle changes shape several times in the story because he is unhappy and in the end he wants to go back to being a Triangle. He learned that he needed to be happy with who he his. The pictures in this book were also very fun and colorful. It is nicely illustarted. This is a great book to read with young children learning shapes and learning about growing a changing. I would recommend this book to anyone who has children or teaches children.
Rating: Summary: Students in my class love this book! Review: I work in an inner city school. Believe me when I say that they are a tough group to please! They were absolutely enthralled with The Greedy Triangle! It opened up discussion in the class more than any other book I have read to them this school year. It is colorful, creative and fun. You can have the students use toothpicks and gummy bears to create the greedy little triangle and then change shapes as it metamorphisizes. Food is a great motivator. A fun way to instill a love of both reading and geometry. When the book is over, the kids can be "greedy" and eat their creations. Trust me, they will never forget the lesson.
Rating: Summary: Great for introducing to geometry in sixth grade! Review: I've used this book in my sixth grade geometry exploratory class as an introduction to polygons. The students thouroughly enjoyed it, they were able to see how polygons are everywhere in their environment, and later created their own polygon book, using total degree measurement, angles, etc... I highly recommend "The Greedy Triangle" to any teacher who may be teaching about polygons in a geometry unit, it's also a great way of integrating reading into math curriculum.
Rating: Summary: Great introduction for Geometry! Review: This book is awesome! I am a fourth grade teacher and used this book as an anticipatory set for my Geometry unit. It illustrates polygons in real life situations and exposes kids to a lot of different polygons. All of my students loved this book and it is a short read.

It is a short story that includes the transformation of a triangle into many other shapes. This book is extremely colorful and captures the childrens attention and is a great way to incorporate geometry into the classroom. This book enables you to teach students how shapes are incorporated into real world situations.
