Summary: Why is this out of print????
Review: ... This was one of my favorite books as a child. The stories about the animal characters from different countries were very funny and I loved to read them over and over. I had the flags on the back cover memorized as to which country they belonged to. This book is a great way to introduce kids to geography AND get them to love reading. The copy we had as children belongs to my sister so I would really like to buy my own!....

Summary: The World would be better if all children read this book
Review: Housepainting pigs, Couscous the detective, Matilda? the kangaroo nurse, the pig that kisses the blarney stone and the brazilian boa that wrapped herself around a jet plane. I still sketch the bloated plane in quiet moments at work.
Modern chidren's books seem lesser immitations. To be fair I have not read the newer books, but the illustrations are never in the same class as Scarry's and no book has such a wealth of stories and characters.
Save the world, bring it back!

Summary: Richard Scarry's Busy Busy World
Review: I just gave my grandson "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go," a book that all 4 of my children adored, and he adores it too. Thought I'd give him Busy Busy World next, another all-time, all-kid favorite, but NO! it's out of print. Lots of books that the 20-somethings loved have gone out of print and it's too, too bad. Bring this one back, and all the others, in their original large formats. I noticed that Cars and Trucks... has actually been reprinted in a slightly reduced format with colors less sharp, probably because cheap-o Golden Books now owns it. But even in inferior copy, Busy Busy World deserves to live on.

Summary: Please reprint!
Review: I snagged my the copy my brother and I shared as kids, so I thought I'd order one for my nephew for Christmas. I'm so sad it's unavailable. This is Richard Scarry's best. Thanks to my parents for saving the old taped-up copy. My daughter adores it. Please, please, please get this book back on the shelves!

Summary: I'M SICK.
Review: I'm 34, and I still remember the boa around the plane, and Fatima and Sven Svenson's barn and Sven Svenson's cow, and I'm going to cry because it's out of print and I can't buy one for my soon-to-be niece!

I have my original book from when I was two, but the spine is split and there's masking tape wrapped around both glossy hardcovers to keep them on -- it was read by me and my younger brother so much! It is hands-down my favorite book from when I was a young child, and it is a CRIME that this book is not in print!!! A CRIME! A CRIME! A CRIME!

Summary: Richard Scarry gave us hours of joy
Review: It's urgent that this book become available again. How unfortunate that it is out of print. Come on! Let's get with it. My children adored this book, spent endless hours curled up on the couch, or in bed, being read to, and reading, this wonderful book of global and cultural delights. They loved the Italians, the French, Egyptians, Swedes, and the amazing, unforgettably adorable and crazy drawings. Because of this book, in part, they love world cultures, they love to travel, and they adore geography. Let's make the world right again, and hurry and get Busy Busy World back. Soon, please.

Summary: My favorite book as a child--Please reprint!
Review: Like everyone here, I was surprised and dismayed to find out that BUSY BUSY WORLD is no longer in print. Our family travelled all over the world, and living everyone from England to Iran to Australia, I wasn't unhappy, because Richard Scarry suggested the world was a charming, interesting place full of, well, busy people (Richard Scarry liked to do books about getting things done--I can also recommend WHAT DO PEOPLE DO ALL DAY?), and so it was. I bought a copy for a friend's child sometime in the mid-1990s, and had I known it was going to go out of print after that date I would have bought a second copy for myself. I will certainly buy one if it is reprinted.

Summary: Great, Great Book
Review: My children love this book and so do I. I can only guess that it is out of print because it is no longer politically correct. The Smart Polish Farmer, and the Irishman that can talk and talk and talk may no longer go over. But this book is brilliant. Humourous and enjoyable for adults and children. It doesn't get any better than this.

Summary: My favorite babysitter
Review: My favorite babysitter earned this esteemed title simply because she would always bring Busy Busy World over and read it to me for hours. My parents were amazed--and still laugh--about my demand that they go out so that Beth could come over and read Busy Busy World to me. It was so much more fun to imagine myself in Paris with Pierre the Parisian Policeman--for several hours in a week, I could be a world traveler .
A couple years ago when I began babysitting for a family on a regular basis, I went to local bookstores, hoping to buy my favorite childhood book. I was dismayed to find it out of print. I just ordered a copy via Amazon, as a good friend of mine is having her first child soon and I can't think of a better gift. I'd much prefer, however, to have been able to buy a new copy....
