Summary: Excellent book for beginners
Review: I started with very little knowledge of Networks. By the time I was half way through, I was very confident about most of the network teminologies.

Every book has a goal. If you read this book just for TCP/IP or just for Congestion Control Algorithms, you should probably go somewhere else. I think this book is a quick reference and is for getting a solid overview of everything under the topic of Computer Networks.

I really wish someone had told me about this book when I was desperately looking for understanding basic terminologies and getting an overview.

Missing : Voice over IP and a few recent technologies!

Summary: Most complete book on computer networks ever !
Review: I used this book as a supplement for a networking university course. This book covers a lot of material, there is no single question I had that it couldn't answer ! I recommend it to anybody interested in networking (all layers of the OSI model : physical, data-link, network, transport, session, presentation and finally presentation). It also covers ethernet standards, TCP/IP stack and even give some source code in C to explain some concepts. A must have of any modern computer student.

Summary: Is a 4th Edition Planned?
Review: I found this to be a superb book. I'm a little concerned that it may be out of date. Do any of the experts out there know if my concern is unwarranted? I would buy a fourth edition today, if it were available.

Summary: It's not a bad book.
Review: Th book was assigned to be the text book of my networks class. The author tried to explain concepts in entertainning way, however it just make students confused more. It provides all most every topic you can think up about network. but I think the author need to cut short those rubbish in explaination and make them more clear

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent if all you want is concepts...
Review: I found this book to be very good. The author does an excellent job of explaining network concepts. However, I found that when it came to actually doing some number crunching that the book could have used more examples. For someone on the computer science side of things the book is good. However, someone interested in actually running a network after reading this book will find it very difficult. The title describes the book accurately in that only Network "Concepts" are covered.

Summary: NETWORKING - NOTHING LIKE THIS!!
Review: I HAVE READ THE BOOK AND FOUND IT EXCELLENT.THE WAY IT TAKES REAL LIFE EXAMPLES AND EXPLAINS THE NETWORKING, ITS FUN READING THE BOOK.YOU NEVER GET BORED READING THIS BOOK.IT CAN ALSO BE USED AS A REFERENCE BOOK IF YOU ARE WORKING IN THE FIELD RELATED. SO,MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THAT EVERY ONE WHO ENTERS NETWORKING SHOULD GRAB A COPY.

Summary: Re: A solid book reference but not pedagogical...
Review: I used this book for a networking course. This is a good reference but not a good book to learn networking from. Some concepts are not really clear. I always believe that few basics well is more important than absorbing lots of facts that you don't understand or half-understood.

This book could have been split into 2 volumes.

My advice for beginners is that don't use this book.

Summary: Good Good Good
Review: This is a comprehensive book I have never read. It starts from the low level to intermediate level. However, I think it is time to have an updated version.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It's a very good book!
Review: The content is very good! But i can't get the book's answers! I like the "Computer Networks",I wish I can get the book's answers soon!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: stupid people shouldn't read this (and the book either)
Review: I don't get it. Why is this book low rated by others? Perhaps they don't understand its contents? Or are they from a different belief? This book is good. And it doesn't cover any implementation details, but it does give a very good view on networking. And if you like the silly jokes, this is your buy!
