Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not easy to read, but a good reference.
Review: I have a tough time reading it, it is not easy to digest the material. But overall, it serves as a good guide to networking technologies generally. It is not for beginners who want a simplified view of computer networking.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: just great
Review: easy to read but deep in detail!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: NIce book
Review: It is an interesting book specialy for beginers.

Summary: Really good book !
Review: If you are a beginner on the computer network with basic knowledge of mathematics and electronics, this book must be for you. It is writen in plain English so that people who don't use English as a native language could read it without much difficulty. Maybe Prof. Tanenbaum is the man who knows what the students really know and what don't.

Summary: If you buy just one book on computer networks, this is it!
Review: Many years ago when I needed a good general purpose reference on computer networking technology, I decided that Tanenbaum's Computer Networks was "the book." I have repeatedly told my students, "If you can only afford to buy one book, this is the book you want." That remains true today. From his 1st edition of Computer Networks in 1979, Tanenbaum has consistently excelled in presenting technical computer networking information in a lucid style that enables even the novice to become knowledgeable in a short time. This newest edition is not only updated to reflect the changes in emphasis of technology from the OSI architecture to the dominant TCP/IP model, but has also enabled the reader to see far enough forward so that design decisions made today do not preclude the adoption of emerging technologies as they mature. A bargain at twice the price!

Summary: Great book, lots of information, easy to read
Review: Once again, Tanenbaum sets the standard for computer textbooks with Computer Networks. Comprehensive, fairly complete, and easy to read, Computer Networks will remain on my shelf for years to come.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent overview of networking theory
Review: Tannenbaum does a terrific job of explaining a difficult subject in easy terms. His style is very entertaining and accessible. He also gives a level view of everything, showing the flaws as well as the benefits of different models. I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a thorough overview of networking theory.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very good educational book
Review: We think this book is very well writen, easy to understand, if you have some knowledge about computers. It's complete, covering almost all topics about networks. We guess the only thing that could be improved is the one that covers the new technologies.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: For BSEE grads who knows zero but needs to show off
Review: It's okay to be technical..but it has to be complete too! The book seems unclear on who should be reading it. It mention things like Fourier Series but does not explain it in detail. If you're a business person who deals with networks and just want detailed knowledge this is too much. If you are an advanced engineering student, you really don't need anyone to tell you how to compute the wavelength. If it's meant to be technical...it's not technical enough. But if it's meant to be easy reading...it's too technical.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: you Can always rely on it
Review:

Know little yet eager to be a professinal on network?Take a month, read and understand every word of it,and you're done.

Experienced in network yet encountered a confussion one day?Go back to it,you'll clear up your concept and be more experinced.

In fact I'd like to bear it in mind from cover to cover. Also I got comfort from it:see, there's humorous moments in technical studying and work.
