Rating: Summary: A bible !! Review: This book has really help me. It contains information about troubleshoting, installation, upgrade and more. Good graphics, easy to understand tables and easy to follow instructions.
Rating: Summary: better than Apple Service Source! Review: This book is very good. It is one of the few books that is comprehesive of the entire Mac line (from the original mono-MAC to the iMAC). So many Mac books now only focus on the current models forgetting the earlier ones.It is arranged by topic (memory, hd, input devices, etc.) and very easy to use. It is also suprisingly accurate. Twice I have found the information in the book's spec tables to be accurate where Apple's own ServiceSource specs were incorrect. (If only I had access to where they get their info!) :-) Want to work on Macs? Get this book!
Rating: Summary: Available now! 940 pages for the Mac owner's bookshelf. Review: This has to be the most exhausting and rewarding title I've ever written. It's a first edition -- so I can't claim it's perfect -- but I've tried to cover nearly every sort of hardware, most types of software issues and all the troubleshooting you could possibly stomach. Fortunately, I had help in the form of willing Evangelistas who sent in their tips and tricks to help improve this project immensely. A true Mac community effort, I also believe you'll appreciate having this book on your bookshelf for reading or reference. Covers processor upgrades, SCSI, IDE, Firewire, RAM, removable drives, networking, Internet access, PowerBooks, serial, video, audio/visual, MIDI. Includes technology previews on the iMac, USB and other emerging topics, along with 13 chapters of troubleshooting help.
Rating: Summary: Stupendous MacMadness Within! Review: Tremendous Trememndous. This book helped me upgrade my old SE-30 for use as a networked print server in my apartment. It got me set for networking 7 computers together on a LAN, including the fun ways that Macs talk with Windoze boxes and a Read Hat machine. I love this book! Shortcuts, ways to speed up the machine, preemptive troubleshooting tips and more interesting info than you could ever retain.
