Summary: Beautiful book & graphics but poorly written.
Review: The graphic look and design of the book was very impressive, but the actual writing and treatment of content was dull and laborious. I kept on thinking, where was the editor? If there was one, it's as if the book was edited for typos versus style and content.

There were a handful of valuable tips (like the 1 pixel gif & turning the table boundaries off), but I found myself more interested in the "pretty pictures" than what the author actually said.

In general, I think the book underscores one of the biggest problems with the Web. Many sites focus on great graphics, but their content never matches the look of the site. A killer web site should have killer, well-written content -- or is that for the next generation of sites?

Summary: killer: (n) 1.one that kills inspiration 2.killer whale
Review: For someone just entering the arena of web site design I was impressed at the "mud" one had to slosh through in order to get a simple paragraph indent. I owe some thanks to Mr. Siegel for offering up some much needed information. But... if Mr. Siegal really wanted to kill some web site designs he is firing blanks. The book presents some pretty weak examples of "design philosophy" and "golden rules" which don't really hold water. Webb man for sure, Killer designer, not quite. New title? "Creating Seriously Injured Webb Sites"

Summary: Paraphrasing Einstein
Review: "Creating Killer Web Sites" shows author David Siegel a man unbound by conventional wisdom. It is a compelling and welcome departure. As Einstein said "The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.". Siegel has moved us to another level, thereby allaying the nagging irritants existing in web site design. Bravo

Summary: Super. Genau das, was ich gesucht hatte.
Review: By applying David Siegels techniques to reduce the file size of images on web pages, we are able to lower our network costs by almost 20000 Deutsch Mark per year. We think that the design of web pages with respect to data volume offers significant opportunities. This is especially true in Europe because of very high network costs

Summary: teaches you everything from basics to cool advanced stuff
Review: starts with basic, builds up and teaches everything including advanced graphics manipulation etc. if there was one book you had to buy on web publishing, this would be it.

Summary: Yawn
Review: It's a bunch of tips that anyone with a copy of Photoshop already knows, written by a guy who thinks that any design that doesn't look like his or makes any use of the HR, H1-6, P, or LI tags sucks. This "third-generation" site design crap is so graphically intensive it takes hours to download on a modem. Stick with standard HTML or wait for CSS

Summary: Simply inspiring!
Review: Books are often signs of the times which they were made in. But as for CKWS, it is ahead of its time. The book sees web page design in a different perspective. It is comprehensive and is fit for the web page designer who is looking for something more. It is for those who want to stand out among the clutter of web sites. This book's point of view inspired me to work on my own web site and set my standards high. I'm sure it would do the same to you

Summary: From idea to realization via conception
Review: I am french - i baught your book yesterday !!!!!! it's very interesting for a nex "internaute" like me. the look is at the level of the intention. I would like to create a www site for my society in "real estate MANAGMENT" (gim in paris ...) to know how to do before to begin it's best because i can to conceive in "third generation" ... bravo. cl

Summary: This book gives the best advise for creation of web sites.
Review: I used the information of this book to educate me enough to start creating web sites for local businesses. At 17 years old, I feel this is quite a feat. I have enough knowlege to stretch the basic elements of design to their limits. I really liked the way example sites were an interactive part of the book. The step by step procedures also proved to be a huge part of my sucess in learning
