Summary: Ok foundation book...
Review: I just passed the A+ Certification exams. This book helped... barely. The book was missing a lot of information and sometime had incorrect information and table/diagram references - really annoying.

The CD and practice questions are a joke. They will NOT fully prepare you for the real thing.

The reason for a second star is simply that this was the only resource I used for the test and I passed (but I had to write the OS exam a second time).

Not a great book. Better out there. May help you pass.

Summary: Excellent Book!!
Review: I originally bought this book because Paisleyskye or I guess her real name is Tracy wrote it with Mike Meyers and I think she is cool in the forums. I already had the All-In-One book but decided to get this one too.

After I got this book, I realized how good it was. I had been expecting just another A+ book, but this is amazing stuff. It's all anyone needs to prepare for the A+ exams. After I got into it, I wound up tossing the All-In-One book to the side and just using this one. The all in one book is very verbose and has too many errors. It was getting confusing.

The coverage of hardware and OS in this book is very good. I found the All-In-One book did not cover the OS portion very well, but the A+ Certification Passport covers it completely. Also, the coverage of printers, processors and RAM were very thorough, as was the coverage of motherboard form factors.

This book is the ideal book to use for the exams. I think it was a good idea to have a female co-author because it gave a different angle to the book. More women are getting into IT, and this book may give them the confidence to pass the A+ exams.

Summary: Way to go Mike & Tracey!!!!!
Review: I purchased the A+ Certification Passport book approximately one month ago, and I must say that I really enjoy reading it still. I am planning on reading it at least one more time before I take the actual test (that's how much I like it). The authors of this book did a wonderful job of showing their talent of writing. I have read stuff in this book that I didn't know about before. I feel that it's gave me more knowledge of understand computers. The chapters are really short and before you know it you'll have the whole chapter read. It only takes me approximately 25 minutes to read a chapter! Mike and Tracey keeps the chapters short in order to keep you focused on the book. I like the theme of the book because it points out things of interest like: exam tips, technical lingo, and the travel assistance (websites that give me more information).

I would definately recommend this book to anyone who is planning on taking the A+ Certification exam. I feel that it would be your ticket to exam success. I gave this book a rating of 5 stars. I would give it more if I could.

Summary: Great Study Book!
Review: I received this book about a month ago. It is very easy to read and the subjects in it were well explained. Because it was easy to read and provided all the information I need for the exam I am very confident in my knowledge. I learned a lot from Mike Meyers A+ Passport and I highly recommend it, so much I bought the Network + edition as well. Good luck!!

Summary: Needs updating
Review: I recently bought the book and the A+ exam has been updated on November 26th, 2003. If you're thinking about taking and passing A+ exam, then don't buy this edition - It doen't contain new important information you need to know (Serail ATA, P4 processors, Win XP). I was dissapointed those information were not included, even though P4 and Win XP has been around for a while.

Summary: Excellent Study material
Review: I used Mike Meyers A+ Passport in conjuntion with Selftest's A+ practice tests and passed both exams (HW & OS) on first try. I found the book to be concise in its treatment of the material and objectives. This approach made passing the exams a breeze. Now on to the Network+ exam using Network+ Passport.

Summary: Pretty good book to use
Review: I used this book along with The A+ Exams Guide to study for both A+ exams, and passed both the first time. I found this book to provide a very good review for the concepts, but I did think the questions were a little bit lacking compared to the real thing. I would highly reccomend this book as a supplemental study tool, but not as the only one unless you have a LOT of experience already.

Summary: A+ Success with Flying Colors
Review: I used this book for most of my study for the A+ exam. Shortly before each of the core and OS tests, I read the chapters again. It covers in great detail just the information that you need to know. I also used the All In One A+ Certification manual of his too. Its a must have book to be a good computer tech. The passport is easier to study and pass the test, but the full volume is necessary to be a good tech. I would not take a certification test without one of his books. I highly recommend getting this book. Thanks Mike!

Summary: I also found mistakes and contradictions.
Review: I'm now on Chapter 11 and I plan to finish the book, carefull reading and studying to learn this information and hopefully to pass the test. I have to say that I found the exact same mistakes that were noted by the reader review titled "Full of dumb mistakes and contradictions". The book may be a first edition, but such a work should have been vetted by readers that could find the errors!!!
