Rating: Summary: Good beginner book Review: This book is geared more towards somebody that has very little knowledge of computers. The book is more in depth with the hardware aspect of the A+ exam. I would recommend this book to people who have little to no experience working inside of a pc, and if you are planning on taking the exam I would suggest using this book in conjunction with another study guide.
Rating: Summary: Good Review for Exam Review: This book is ideal for A+ exam preparation. Precise and to the point.Great fun to read as well. M.Sital, B.Sc.(Hons),MCSE,MCP,A+,CIW-A
Rating: Summary: Lots of Inaccurate Information Review: This book is probably for someone who is experienced with PC hardware. Yet, for anyone that is will find quite a few mistakes in the hardware section. 1. SCSI ID 0 is the highest priority. 2. Celeron has 128 Meg of L2 cache built in the processor. 3. USB connector information differs from page to page! There are a few more things, but these are actually quite important, especially the SCSI ID priority. I would recommend Transcender A+ Simulation over this one. Transcender gives a much better explanation as to "why" this is the correct answer and "what" each choise is and as to "why" it was not the correct answer.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book, Beware of bad reviewers!!! Review: This book is the best resource I have seen to date. As a student in the A+ program, I was looking for a good, low cost, yet informative reference "tool" for classes & beyond. What I received was an excellent book that answered every question I had that the classes didn't cover. Mr. Meyers eliminates all of the "fluff" in this book & concentrates on the "meat" of what this program should cover. The graphics & charts in this book make remembering printer components, & DOS memory management - for example - a breeze. I had taken my test after my class ended & recieved what I thought was a pitiful score (750-800). After getting this book & reading/reviewing the material covered in it, I re-took the A+ test and received a much higher score (950+). This book does not cover every tiny miniscule detail of the A+ program. What it does cover is the heavy hitting, important, backbone material that matters in the field & on tests. I have sold 8 copies of this book - by word of mouth - to classmates & co-workers who were interested in knowing more about computers. If you want to be "Over-Prepared" for the A+ test, read this book!! I recommend this book HIGHLY!!! Thank you Mr. Meyers!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good cram session book Review: This book skims over a whole bunch of info, especially Win 2k stuff. If you already have lots of hardware/OS knowledge, and have 2 weeks to cram for your A+, this is the way to go. But don't expect this be a reference manual, and don't expect this to teach you everything you need to know to pass.
Rating: Summary: good book, can pass with it Review: This is a good book for the A+ exam. For somebody that didn't think that they were gonna pass, passed. This book was really the only book I used to pass the exam. I took a course for A+, but self-study with this book for my O/S.
Rating: Summary: I Passed!! Review: This is an extremely helpful book. I read the book and paid close attention to the Exam Tips. The exam tips tell you everything you need to know to pass the A+ exam.
Rating: Summary: I Passed!! Review: This is an extremely helpful book. I read the book and paid close attention to the Exam Tips. The exam tips tell you everything you need to know to pass the A+ exam.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: This was an excellent book to refresh the information I had already learned. You will not pass the A+ exam with this book alone, but it is an invaluable tool to help you pass the exam.
