Summary: TripleASP.Net's Review of Inside ASP.Net
Review: Author, Scott Worley, does an exceptional job of breaking down ASP.Net into small manageable pieces for the experienced developer.

Inside ASP.Net provides the reader with a "very high" overview of almost everything concerning ASP.Net. The book starts out with a brief but thorough overview of what ASP.Net is. It then walks you through all of the key structural parts/concepts/configurations of working with ASP.Net. After this overview (chapters 1, 2, and 3), the fun begins. You immediately jump into working with ASP.Net. Again, the remainder of the book is very much like the beginning, quick and concise'...get in, get out, move on.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone with prior experience working with ASP.Net. This book is for the individual who is looking to pull all the information and concepts they previously learned together. If you are devoting most of your time to VB.net you will find this book an exceptional resource. For you C# users, you will find that you will need to do a little extra work to recode the examples'but I think you will find it well worth your effort.

Summary: Plenty of errors - ASP.copy&paste book
Review: I bought this book based on other reviews, I'm at page 200 and I have found more than 40 errors till now, either other readers are sleeping while reading or are family members. Examples are very basic, QuickStart samples that come with visual studio are more profound, at least there you have choice between C# and VB code examples.

However, I was able to contact the author who helped me solve some of the ambiguities I had, particularly with state management.

Summary: Nice book, looks good, and the author is very cute ;)
Review: I like this book for a few reasons, besides the author being good looking (so much more handsome than the regular author pictures you see on bok covers) is that is is broken up into logical sections cover ASP.NET.

I have been writing web applications for 4 years now and have learnt many technologies ranging from coldfusion through to asp, and now asp.net, I found the authors approach very good and his book helped me pick up ASP.NET to an intermediate level pretty quickly.

His security chapter is one of the best I have seen, and I have a few other big name ASP.NET books on my shelf.

so all in all a good technical level book on ASP.NET.

good work.

Summary: I find this book to be relatively good
Review: I must admit that whilst waiting for this book to be delivered, I almost concelled my order after seeing 2 bad reviews here, however, I am glad I did not cancel.

While the book does have some typographical errors, I have found it to be a very good reference, it has certainly helped me get a better understanding of ASP.NET, and to date is the only book I have found that covers Active directory, MSMQ and Localization (this is the reason I brought the book), however I must admit that I only have read a few ASP.NET books.

Anyway, I found this book to be a good one, and hope my review helps others trying to figure out which ASP.NET book to buy.

Summary: Atrocious grammar - hard to read
Review: I purchased this book to fill out my .Net collection. This is (by far) one of the worst written/edited books I have ever read. The editor needs to take an English course. The content may be passable but if you are looking for anything more then a quick reference look elsewhere. Hopefully the great team at Apress will release their ASP.net book soon and fill the asp.net void.

Summary: Good Book!
Review: I read the XML WEB SERVICE Chapter and it was just great! 'cos before that I was not convinced by other Web Services articles and so I just wanted to see what is in store for me. And it never let down. Good explanation, although SOAP could have more pages on it. Anyway, I don't have any problems in saying, "GUYS AND GALS! GO AND GET THIS BOOK!".

Worth Buying...

Summary: Indespensible developer's reference
Review: I really liked this book. It's the first book on anything .NET related that doesn't start with the assumption that the reader is a complete beginner - and this is it's strength. The book contains a brief overview of ASP.NET, of course, but for learning ASP.NET, you'd better look elsewhere.
However, once you have got some experience of building ASP.NET applications, this book beomes the perfect companion. Just about everything you will ever have to do as a professional ASP.NET developer is covered in this book. Explanations are clear, and code samples are succinct and immediately useful.
I particularly liked the way in which Scott Worley covers the usage of interaction with other parts of Windows infrastructure through .NET Framework classes. So we get chapters on working with XML, on MSMQ, on using legacy COM components and on directory services.
This book is permanently sat on my desk when I am working with ASP.NET. It's the best way of figuring out how to make things work in an ASP.NET application.

Summary: Great book with great examples
Review: I think the author, Scott Worley, did an excellent job to explain a lot of areas in the brand new platform with many useful code examples. Highly recommend for people who want to know a bit more about ASP.NET

I have been working with ASP.NET for a few months now. In the beginning, I try to find a book with some real juice on the topic. But I found most of them are very similar to the QuickStart examples that provided with the platform. So, I dig my head into the free example and the beta quality documentation instead.

Then, I came across this book last week. After I flip through a few chapters in the bookstore, I decide too have this book in my programming collection. Although I already have a few months of experience on the platform, I am excited to learn that this book still able to offer me some new information and it help to clear up some other topics for me as well. Such as security, state and cache management etc. At the end of the book, Scott put together a massive example project (compare to others books) that recap all the topics and show how they work together. You can¡¦t find this in most of the books.

Summary: Excellent book
Review: I was that close to buying this book, but... All examples are in VB.Net. It would have been nice to see C# in addition to that. Otherwise excellent material.
