Rating: Summary: The best on the market Review: An excellent book. You should do the tutorials last, because the text will make more sense. I really enjoyed reading this book. It helped my jdbc skills really mature. The authors really know what their talking about. Everything in the book makes sense.

Rating: Summary: A good, Concise guide Review: At last, a Java book that cuts through the nonsense, gives sound advice and examples and delivers what it promises. This is my number one choice as a JDBC reference.

Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended Review: Despite the complexity of JDBC in general, this book gives it to you in a clear, concise format that even a first time programmer would understand.Although this book provides coverage of SQL and Java, it wouldn't hurt to familiarize yourself with them before picking this book up.
Rating: Summary: have read it and tried it in great detail Review: Do NOT buy the book because you read in the description "...For those new to Java technology, the book includes an introduction to the Java programming language and to SQL. It builds on this basic knowledge to walk you through creating a JDBC application-from setting up a database and establishing a connection to retrieving values from result sets and using prepared statements.." This is completely not true. In fact the authors assume you are very familiar with ODBC and have already setup lots of databases.
Rating: Summary: Best JDBC book available Review: I found this book to be the most current regarding JDBC. I found it very useful reference guide in the development of a moderately complex database frontend applet/application. This book covers the api pretty well. I would like to see additional information published about implementation, performance tuning, and code optimization strategies, but understand the difficulty of providing up to date information in this area.
