Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I just wanted to commend the authors of this great book! I just started to learn Flash and this book has been the great resource for us newbies to this fabulous but complicated program. I haven't found a better beginner book that compares to this one. I rate this book a positive 10!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I received this book for Christmas, never having done ANYTHING with Flash. Now I'm creating websites, banners, and intro movies! This book, however, is for COMPLETE beginners. Do not buy it if you already know a good share of information. Besides that, I can't think of any other book (and I've been through many) that are as informative and understandable as this one. Simply a must have.
Rating: Summary: Great for beginners Review: I was disappointed not to find more advanced skills for Flash. I would have welcomed this book if I were starting from scratch. I pre-ordered the book and learned most of these skills before it was finally published and delivered. I would welcome this format for more advanced Flash skills and actionscripting.
Rating: Summary: Not enough bang for bucks Review: I was hoping for the book to give me lots of useful flash tips that tonz of other books don't cover, and found it quite disappointing that's not the case at all. It does, however ,cover a lot of basics that whoever's into flash for a while will not appreciate much. If you've browsed some other flash books to get basics down, you wanna pass on this one. There's some other flash books that will give you inspiration and teach you lots of neat things. I actually just browsed this book at a local book store to decide to buy it or not. I hope they will come up with an advanced flash book soon.
Rating: Summary: A teaching tool that will facilitate a true grasp of Flash. Review: I went to the library and looked at Flash books first before buying. From the Dummies series to the old QUE series books that I have bought in the past, the H-O-T book caught my eye and I checked it out (with 5 other "learn flash" books). This book reads like a classroom course on how to use Flash from an introduction to vector and timeline based applications to an entry level ActionScript and other much more advanced features of Flash 5 (and now the new Flash MX as well). This is not the last Flash book you will ever buy, there are much more advanced features that 700+ pages can not cover... but if you want a very solid foundation to learn Flash from; if you have bought dummies series books and found them interesting and humorous, but not enough learning depth; if you have bought books that were WAY over your head so that you were lost after the third chapter... THIS IS the book for you. Get this book if you have a background in HTML and web page publishing, but have yet to take the "plunge" to Flash application and animation. Go through the book right there at the computer desk and you WILL learn Flash. Afterward you will be ready to use at least 80% of Flash features without having to dive back into a "reference" book to remember how to "do that one thing." This is not a book to read while on the plane or the bus. Sitting in front of your computer will be a must as it WILL teach you, step by step how to complete a task. And the following lesson will discretely review in the background what you learned previously as it teaches you something new. The book will show you two to three ways to complete the same task so that you can choose (as you will in the following lesson) the way the works best for you. The CD-ROM comes with all the lesson files and it includes nicely done demo movies of about ten of the more difficult tasks. Well thought out book I would recommend for anyone who is taking learning Flash seriously.

Rating: Summary: Saved my life! Review: I'm a Graphic Design major and when I entered this class and discovered that I was expected to learn Flash, I was a bit hesitant. Luckily, the teacher mentioned this book, for when I tried to follow the teacher, I constantly got lost. Fed up, I got this book and it SAVED MY LIFE!! I loved the simplicity of this book-- direct, to the point, helpful pointers alongside pictures. It teaches you the very basics and useful tricks and such. This is a must for anyone who needs help!

Rating: Summary: Learn Flash 5 with H.T.O ! Review: I'm a multimedia artist. I'm using many programs and one of them is Flash 5 for the web design . I have need some a good book about to flash 5. I know some books about Flash but I can say today the best Flash 5 Book is the Hand-on training by Kymberlee Weil and Lynda Weinman. You can start creating a web page with this book, and also very important thing is, you can see what is the creating flash animation, interactive works, etc. A Excellent CD-ROM with many quick times, most important thing is A understandable Languish. I think you can buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Great Book For Beginners Review: I've gone through a variety of tutorials, but this one I highly recommend. The lessons are easy and straightforward. People have told me Flash 5 was hard to learn, but with this book I thought otherwise.
