Summary: Not Very Hot! More Like Luke Warm!
Review: This book is like eating chinese food, because it leaves you hungry after every chapter. I have bought other "HOT" books and liked them much better, but I am starting to feel that perhaps this series could benefit by building in more exercises that will help the learner gain more confidence and experience. Yes, I was able to go through this book in about 2 weeks, but I now feel the need to either take a course somewhere or find another book that will satisfy my needs (and appetite for knowledge).

Summary: exorbitantly priced, mediocre
Review: this book is pretty decent i guess, much better than those visual quickstart books that really don't teach, but serve as a reference for later on when you have some grasp of the subject.

but to tell you the truth, i think this book is way over priced.
Sure, it has a fancier lay-out thru out. Is it necessary? Nope.
It's a "hold your hands like a baby" book... at a higher degree than foundation flash. Not suitable for the smarter half of the world who aren't so blind.

Quality wise, I found foundation flash 5 to be much more in depth and advanced without causing confusion.. which implies that it's better. I mean, regardless of the "so-called" difficulty imposed by foundation flash, i mean, do you want to learn the application or not? if web design was that easy than everyone would be pursuing this profession.

i have a strong feeling that those that prefer this book wants a easier way out, which means they'd rather fool themselves into thinking they've achieved mastery of flash when they're not even close.

my advice.. get foundation flash.. it's cheaper, it's better, and though it lacks a CD, you won't have a need for it..
this is only if you're serious about flash though.

Summary: Not worth the money
Review: This book looks good at first, but once you are done, you feel ripped off. I found it quite a letdown, and ended up purchasing the Flash 5 bible for only a few dollars more. That still wasn't great, but contained a WEALTH of information compared to Hands On Training. I will never waste my money on any of her books again, as now I have learned there are much better books to be obtained.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Top Notch
Review: This book was written by teachers for learning, and it does it better than any other books I've seen. It doesn't hurt that she really knows her Flash as well.

Some will bypass the book because it isn't a top notch reference guide for the experienced person. My view is "What good is a reference manual if you don't have a good book to teach you?"

You won't do better than this book for learning Flash.
