Rating: Summary: This "for Dummies" book is an essential tool. Review: After using a web-editing program for several months I decided to try this book. It certainly helps to understand how the program works and what its limitations are. Even if you only have "Notepad" or some other simple text editor, this book will have you writing pro web pages in no time.
Rating: Summary: Working Book To Quickly Learn HTML Review: Despite detractors, this book is structured well to skim for an overview, and dip into sections required to do specific tasks. I used the 2nd edition over a 10 day period to learn HTML, and design a website with scanned content, bespoke images (using Corel Photo), more than 500 hyperlinks (laboriously found through lots of search engine use), and create a well structured site that 5 years later still works well (with content additions by present webmasters). This book also proved useful in teaching masters engineering students about html & cgi basics, for use in developing intranet demonstrators in industry. The key strength is that you understand the basics without relying on packages like Frontpage or Office2000 to "bloat" up webpages unnecessarily. Overall a good basic text and web building block, to be read with something like "Futurize Your Enterprize" by David Siegel to inspire passion in web-pure-play businesses.
Rating: Summary: An Introduction to HTML for the Rest of Us! Review: For the HTML novice, this book is a good way to get your feet
wet. It's not as technically oriented as some of the hard-core
programming books (which I'm sure that I will eventually get
around to eventually!), but I found it educational, entertaining,
and more pleasant to read than a technical journal. If you're
a computer programmer or know alot about HTML already, this
book is probably too basic for you, but if you're in another line of work and are interested in learning more about HTML
and programming web pages, "HTML for Dummies" is a great place to start.
Rating: Summary: A great starting point Review: I am a seasoned web developer and I cut my teeth on this book years ago. It is a perfect way to go from knowing nothing to knowing enough to get a basic site up and running. The title says for DUMMIES, thus it assumes you know virtually NOTHING about HTML. Most people who didn't like this book already knew about HTML.
I have been reading tech/web books for years now and its safe to say that this is a great place to begin and to use as a reference until you are ready to get into more complex designing and development.
I started reading this book and within eight hours I had my first web page up for the world to see. There is no greater feeling than publishing for the first time! Enjoy the journey!
Rating: Summary: Makes learning HTML easy Review: I can do just about anything on a computer but program, so I was worried about learning the HTML language. Thanks to this book, I learned HTML quickly. The disk included with the book also was a big help, since it gave me lots of references to help me with tough coding. I now have several Web pages up and running, but I make sure to keep the book handy for a quick reference. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: I am comfortable with HTML in just 2 days... God is good... Review: I had no experience with HTML and purchased the book before I had reviewed any of the user comments. One user in particular had me concerned after my purchase but I decided to investigate for myself. I am very happy with my purchase. I am in the computer industry as an application developer and I felt that I was about to become extinct. Thanks for writing 'HTML for Dummies', a book that I has quickly placed me back in the race. As I read further, should I have any more comments, I will provide them. I am just heading into Chapter 5. Thanks again... Patricia
Rating: Summary: A good book for a first approach Review: I have read HTML for dummies italian translation and I have found it really suitable for one who is not active in the subject. Nothwithstanding this, the first half of the book seems to me too slow if you are in hurry to acquaint the core of HTML programming. Besides I have a remark about the tags alphabetical index, placed half of the book, allowing a wrong break in the reading. In my opinion, the right place to put such an index is after the end of the last chapter. Finally, I have a complaint about the italian edition: there is no dictionary of computer terms in the book I have purchased ! I will add that I have read other "for dummies " books, and I have received a very positive general impression.
Rating: Summary: Poor choice. Review: I may be a dummy but what the heck is this book trying to teach? I thought the topic was HTML. I guess I was wrong. You won't learn much with this flop that is for sure
Rating: Summary: DA BOMB!!!!!!I Review: I STUDIED WITH THIS BOOK AND I GOT 97% ON MY TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A great teacher of HTML Review: I think it's great for some one who is learning HTML, and a great referance for some one who knows HTML.
