Summary: Excellent C++ reference book with good examples
Review: Yes it is. I had learned C++ before but have not used it for many years. My current project needs to be implemented in C++ and I almost forgot all of the C++ syntax and usages. This book gives a good review of C++ for the first 8 chapters, then it goes on to be more interesting to introduce everything from basic to detailed usages with example coding along with very good explanations. Actually I quickly skimmed over the first 10 chapters and only slowed down where I thought it needed to be. If you 're looking for other applications using C++, you should look at other topics such as LDAP in C++, CORBA in C++, so on. However, this one still can serve as a very good reference for those C++ applications. I would strongly recommend this book for anyone who knows C, Java, had learned C++ but not using it like me, or even someone does not know anything about C++. It almost covers every aspect you would encounter in C++ while working on your projects. Go for it.
