Summary: Number one book at Wipro!
Review: My friend Jayant Saldanha at Tata and Uday Lal
Pai of Covansys told me about this book and that I must purchase it immediately. They used it to get up to speed quickly with web services for one of their US clients.

We have purchased a total of 10 copies for all our coworkers. This book is now standard reading. I recommend you purchase a copy for yourself and one for your best friend.

Summary: Are you humble?
Review: This book taught me a lot and was very timely. The authors should be given praise for the fine work they did. I recommend this book to all my friends.

Summary: Disappointingly Good
Review: I bought this book when I saw so many good reviews along with an equal number of bad reviews. This told me that the authors inspired emotion amongst its readers. I was not disappointed in my purchase. This book is the absolute best book I have read all year.

Summary: 800 pages of content with 50 pages of useable material
Review: This book is not at all practical. It has over explained individual topics to the extent that it is even confusing. It is the last book to be used for quick reference. Contents are of absolutely of no practical value. Go elsewhere if you want to learn to apply webservices. This book is quite useless to me and I am a very experienced J2EE architect.

Summary: mishabayrach
Review: This book has caused a divide amongst people in our profession. You can choose to love or hate but what is most important is the truth. Pray for the sick and those who are misguided.

This book will put those who seek knowledge, wisdom and understanding of web services will find this tome the holy grail you seek.

Summary: The art of writing a book!
Review: The authors of this book have worked very hard to write a book that provides valuable information to those who are interesting in learning more about web services architecture.

Some will complain that a small portion of the book covers introductory material that can be gathered from sun.com. If this material were not in the book, then others would complain about missing information. There is no clear answer to this conundrum.

Judge this book on its content as these are the words of the author. Comments about price, format and so on are beyond the control of the authors.

If one were to focus strictly on the words, you will find gold.

Summary: Incomplete book
Review: it might be a good beginner's book for understanding the basics of web services. When you start dealing with realworld web services architecture situations, all you get from this book is just how to make a simple hello-world JAXRPC, JAXM example working -- beyond that i had no more use of the book. The chapters on SOA, transactions, practical considerations, security are nothing but theoretical junk with no example proof. After browsing all the pages, I don't find anything which show how to build a working java Web services architecture. The word architecture is abused and does'nt make sense for this title.

Summary: Technology is Easy, Business is Hard
Review: As one of first leaders in the industry to build a XML-Based B2B platform while working at Dun and Bradstreet (now at Merrill Lynch), one of the challenges that emerged was to get our team up to speed on development using standards-based approaches. What I like about this book, is that it does exactly that.

This book is suitable for those who are faced with heavy integration challenges and are willing to leverage emerging technology. It is targeted at architects and developers. I wish someone would write the equivalent book for IT executives.

Summary: e-Business
Review: This book is very popular at JP Morgan Chase and is one of the five books we recommend for our outsourcing partners.
