Summary: Sajid Moinuddin-graghic designer - DUBAI, UAE.
Review: i was so excited when i heard the new Flash web design VERSION 5.0 is out ... but it was sheer dissappointment when i actually bought this book and went through it.. I had already bought the previous book which is based on Flash 4.0. And this new REMIX V5 is exactky the same as the older book with the same sites and same chapters - 10 in all,,with only difference u notice is the big red sticker which says REMIX V5 and the blue strip on the cover.... if anyone has bought the earlier book pls dont even bother buying this one as its a waste of money!!!!! it was a real let down by hillman curtis..... atleast he should have included some new chapters in this new book 5.0..:-((

Summary: overdesigned
Review: I wouldn't listen to these guys when it comes to design. It's actually hard to read and find information because of their 'style'. And it doesn't look cool either. A lot of hot air, little substance.

Summary: new to flash
Review: I'm a newbie to Flash design...in fact, new to web design, so when looking around for a book to learn Flash from this book seemed to have everything I needed. A solid and compelling look into the techniques of a top designer and step by step examples. The book delivers! My only complaint is that there are a couple of spots in the book that apparently didn't get completely updated, the chapter on actionscripting still refers to Flash 4 although this is a Flash 5 upgrade. All in all though a wonderful experience.

Summary: simply wonderful
Review: I'm new to Flash, but have years as a designer and this book really spoke to me and helped me get up to speed with a not just new software, but a way of thinking about the medium the software was designed for. Highly recommended

Summary: This book looks awfully familiar
Review: If you bought the original Flash Web Design book, you'll probably want to skip this version. This is merely an update. Flash 5 Magic is completely new content and Flash 5 Bible has loads of new stuff, but Hillman and co. took a break and just did some updated screenshots and an ActionScript chapter. Thanks goodness for book exchange policies.

Summary: Book that Inspire
Review: This a book about design which I see very inspiring to anyone
who is a designer or want to be. Not only on technical aspect on how to get flash works in motion graphics but also how they got the idea. This is what other design's book lack off.
You can feel it's a real life project developement.
The book layout design is inovative. This what I called a book from a designer. Thanks to Hillman and friends for a great book.

Summary: Good but innacurate
Review: This is my first flash book. I purchased the software and went through the included tutorials. This book is a good next step. I like the step by step approach but before marketing this book as a Flash version 5 book they should have tried doing the projects in the new flash. Many of the steps do not work correctly in version 5 and you have to figure out why. Also a proofread of two would have done some definate good.

Summary: I thought the first book was great.
Review: This is not a how to learn Flash book. If that is what you seek, I highly recommend Foundation Flash 5 that is by far the best learning Flash book on the market. What this book is you have a remarkable designer and I am a Hillman Curtis fan. This book gives you his own insight with wonderful tips for designing those stunning sites, which make him so famous. I have his first book and I truly thought this one was worth every penny and I enjoyed every page. I feel stronger with my knowledge and his systematic examples are just exceptional. This would be a great asset to any flash design guru!

Summary: Warning! Forget the HYPE!
Review: when i got this book i got really excited just for the design of the book, but after the first 2 chapters you realize is not that big deal, if you already know flash basics, THIS BOOKS IS A WASTE, not even inspiring... Deconstruction.....??? He never finishes the projects and are completly boring... Also you have to download the practice files (even a 10MB file for chapter 9!) I know he's a master but is not taking you higher! Just be really carefull when you buy because i went crazy reading all other good reviews. The books has some good 'advice', so if you are willing to pay for advice that i can teach you in 5 minutes, get it! I liked better NEW MASTERS

Summary: Useless and Annoying
Review: When I read all the positive reviews of this book last winter, I went right out and bought it along with the Sams 24 hour Flash book. I went through the Sams book - which is great at teaching flash basics - and then went to Curtis' book for more advanced learning. I found it ittirating how the book requires you to use other programs, such as Adobe Premier and Macromedia FreeHand to finish most projects. And none of the projects were even finished!

The book is supposed to have been updated for Flash 5, but many of the instructions were geared toward Flash 4 requiring me to figure out the "Flash 5" way of doing a technique. You can learn much more by doing online tutorials than you can from this book.

The one thing Curtis does well is emphasize concept development. But overall, this book was a waste of my money. Don't buy it unless you like quitting a project before it is done and unless you have access to the other programs he uses.
