Summary: It's a Shame They Killed Trees to Print This
Review: This is one of the worst books I have ever bought. It is utterly useless along with the JavaScript Goodies book. I hope they used recycled paper on both of them, because they were both horrible.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This can be a helpful book
Review: This book is full of HTML tips and hints, but you can find the same tutorials at the website of the same name. This book is a great thing to have sitting next to you when you're working on a website, because it will help you understand what kind of HTML to use and when. Of course, it also stresses that you shouldn't over do it with different kind of HTML goodies, because that can create annoying website.

This book is definitely a must-have for those of us who like to sit around and make websites.

Summary: Exceptional, Perfect for Beginners!
Review: Joe Burns really knows how to teach HTML. I purchased this book hoping to learn how to code web pages. Now I'm working as a professional webmaster and I owe it to Joe Burns for being the perfect teacher. The book is well balanced between easy-to-read tutorials and detailed descriptions of all the code encompassed in the book.

Anyone who is searching for a book to teach them HTML. Look no furthur. This book is AMAZING!!!

Summary: Good Book!
Review: As a 14-year-old I though this book was very easy to understand and well written. It it very good for beginners and a good reference for experts who forgot a code. I am only giving this book 4 stars because I agree with what other people have said about it's outdatedness. But defenitly doesn't deseve anything lower that 4 stars!

Summary: Not good if you actually want people to view your webpage
Review: Stupid book. He mentions nothing about the infusion of XML and in the frames section he takes at least a half of a page going into weather or not you should allow your page to have a scrollbar.

You want a good HTML book get HTML for the world wide web, and really learn what you're doing. You'll see the difference.

* My 2nd review: *[...] if you're just doing web pages the way this book explains it you are going to have a lot of trouble with the more advanced stuff. This book is too simple.

1. It makes HTML seem too easy with no emphasis being placed on making webpages user friendly and being responsible for what you put up.

2. This man has no programming experience, and the tags used here are old and have long since been replaced with CSS.

With the emergence of e-commerce, and all the other advancements in on the web, books such as this one are not needed. Anyone can do a webpage now, but only those who have been taught well can make them into sites that can actually be used.

There are much better books that give you the whole story on making good and functional webpages that meet modern standards, and I would only buy this one as a LAST resort.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good for Beginner only
Review: This is a great book for beginners but not for specialized or advanced html stuff.

I found this book too simple for me. So it's in the junk pile. There are better books on Amazon than this one for advance stuff.

Summary: Joe Burns Ph. D -- HTML Guru does it again, On Paper!
Review: After being a frequent visitor of the HTML Goodies website and a subscriber of HTML Goodies to Go and Web Design Goodies, I have learned all the ways of Joe Burns. This time, however, he has really outdone himself. HTML is finally explained in simple terms. This book breaks up HTML into different portions and even goes beyond HTML into Style Sheets and more. Most of the information IS available on the Web Site, but there are bonus chapters in the book.

In addition, Joe Burns recently released information in Goodies to Go that stated that online reading is less convienient and paper books are still America's favorite. This means that even if the content can be located elsewhere, most people would still rather have it in this fully illustrated 527 page book created by Web Guru Joe Burns.

This is a must buy for anyone wanting to learn HTML, further there knowledge of HTML, or just wanting a reference to HTML to keep on hand. It is priced just right, and the discount from Amazon makes it even more affordable. It really shows you that "Content is King" (something Joe always emphasizes) because, I have found many books that are more than double the size for 3 times the price that are way too into cool graphics and how to perform the latest trick. JOE DOESN'T DO THAT, ESPECIALLY IN HTML GOODIES. Some will tell you that this book is outdated, but it's not. It teaches you that content is king and that will always rule all.

The Second edition will be available soon fixing some small errors that appear in the book. A DEFINATE MUST BUY!!

Summary: Weekend Warriors Only
Review: This is a very good book but there are one or two things you should know before you buy.

Firstly the author refers to you the reader as a weekend warrior and not a person seriously interested in studying web development, but more of a hobbyist. For this reason the Author doesn't cover everything you may want to know or even need to know about HTML.

Secondly the author refers to 4.0 as a coming standard which is an obvious indication of this books age considering we're now on 4.01.

Thirdly many of the links your told to refer to on the site are no longer there. Considering this book is still for sale I think the author should of kept those links alive.

If you are a hobbyist or are looking for a gentle introduction to HTML then this book maybe for you, but bear in mind its age. Much of the content isn't as relevant now as when the book was written. This book covers HTML reasonably well but you'll find that HTML 4.x encourages the developer to use stylesheets and not standard HTML.

If you are seriously interested in learning HTML go for HTML The Complete Reference now in its third edition, as it has an excellent tutorial and a full reference section, but if you are a hobbyist then go for HTML Goodies.

I know I'm going to get comeback from others for this review but I'm just telling you the way it is. In its day I would of given it five stars but not now.

Summary: Fantastic! The best book on HTML
Review: This book is fabulous. It's excellent for someone who wants to learn HTML but doesn't want to get confused. The book is written in easy to understand terms and Joe Burns makes it fun. After trying to learn HTML from lots of other books, I am so happy I found this one. It's the only book you'll need. The best part is that you don't have to keep referring to previous chapters to figure out what to do next. Thanks Joe Burns!
