Summary: Great Book!!!
Review: Real great book. Covers everything you need to know for the CCNP Switching 2.0 exam. Multilayer switching is covered in detail. Actually, mapping multicast addresses to layer 2 addresses could have been covered in greater detail. She did a real shallow and thrivial work on that. Might have to do some more research on that. Used a 5505 and catalyst 1900 switch to study for the exam and passed on the first attempt last month. Know your Vlans and VTP real well. Can't say too much due to the disclosure issue, but this book will give you all that you need. It is real technical and not so exciting so if you're not accustomed to reading books of that nature and looking for something easier and more fun, then go elsewhere. The book also has excellent labs at the end of every chapter and they help reinforce what you've learned and actually put it into real world practice. If you can get your hands on a couple of switches(5505 and 2820/1900), man, you not get only the theoritical knowledge but the hands on to deploy a real multilayer switch network. You need this book!!! Taking my remote access next week and the support 2.0 2 weeks after that.

Summary: Building CISCO Multilayer Switched Networks
Review: The book is generally very good. There is a wealth of detailed information presented in an understandable manner. Providing you have some knowledge of networking you shouldn't have to many problems.

My one gripe about this book is the amount of mistakes, There everywhere, from wrong IP addresses in diagrams, bad descriptions to plain wrong content. I know this because I've read the book five times along with many many documents available on the CISCO web site. So if you doubt what you read check it.

At the end of the day there are very few good books around that cover the BCSN exam in detail. This one does

Summary: Book is poorly written
Review: The figures have little to do with the text. Obviously the author didn't try very hard to coordinate. I found the book very confusing it failed to explain why you are doing things it simply tells you what to do. I would not recommend it.

Summary: Get on the CCNP 2.0 track!
Review: The tests are now updated. This book will get you up to speed! It is also a great at-hand reference for multi-later switching, vlans, spanning tree, and multicasting.

Summary: Brilliant...
Review: There are probably 3 books which you would need for the new switching exam - this book, the Sybex equivalent and the Exam Cram. Together you will pass. Of the 3 - this is probably the most in depth and technical - it has all the info for the exam and more....an excellent product from the guys at Cisco (would you expect any less???)

Summary: well? ..
Review: there is no under current of continutity for the most part . Be prepared to read and reread certain sentences. The excercises at the end of the chapters are unrealistic for the guy who can't get access to a half dozen high end switches by the end of chapter four...fortunately for moi, i have a gifted imagination. Still luv you though karen, you know that.

Summary: CCNP BCMSN Book
Review: This book has a lot to offer someone preparing to take the exam. However, it is about 200 pages smaller than it's predecessor, CLSC, and does not come with a CD-ROM. I gave it only three stars for this reason. For this price point, it should be longer and have a CD-ROM with sample test software.

Summary: Very good book - Get this to pass the BCMSN test
Review: This book is definitely better than the McGraw Hill book. I read both books and found this one better. Don't waste your time finding any other book for exam.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very informative and well written
Review: This book is well written and the end-of-chapter exercises are definitely very useful for learning basic multilayer commands for Cisco Catalyst switches. This book would definitely be of great help if you're studying for the BCMSN exam, too.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Does not get to the point...
Review: This book was not well organized and spends too much time talking about details without helping you understand the big picture. Also, I found out from an instructor of this course that it does not completely agree with the Cisco course material so you really can't rely its information to pass the test.
Would not recommend someone try to pass the test solely on this book. No test prep software is included.

I used Smartcertify course, read this book and used the Boson test prep software and passed the first time.
