Summary: A must for every serious Corel User
Review: I ordered the book from Amazon.com a couple weeks ago and I am well on my way to becoming a more effective illustrator thanks to David and Gary.

I am an illustrator, Instructor and president of the Aspiring Corel Enthusiasts User Group based out of Sacramento, CA. It is books like this that inspire me to inspire others.

David and Gary have out done themselves on this one. All that is left for us as serious Corel users is to buy their book and show them some of the same support they have been providing Corel users around the world for years.

It is dedicated Corel Experts like David and Gary who give us the courage to do the designs we can do, the understanding their are still some designs others will have to do for us and provide us with the infinite wisdom to know the difference.

Thanks Guys.......

Summary: A book that truely shows you HOW to do those special effects
Review: I was looking for a book, not a manual, to show me some of the special effects everyone wants to learn, not just how to use the tools. I have learned so much from this book and have even impressed a few of my friends. The steps to create the projects are clear and easy to follow. The perfect book for any Corel user.

Summary: A book that shows you HOW the pros do it. FANTASTIC!!!
Review: If you REALLY want to learn how to use the CorelDraw8 suite, this is the one book you MUST have! Gary and Dave have shown how to create complex projects in simple, clear steps that anyone should be able to complete with good results. I have several books on this program and although they are good reference sources, they don't even come close for actually getting in there and showing you how to get your job done. If you follow along with Gary and Dave you'll get results that look like they must have taken weeks instead of minutes to complete. Don't tell your boss! :)

Summary: You get what you pay for!
Review: Just what I was looking for - or so I thought! I was desperate to learn more about metallic effects and how to get the best out of Corel Xara 2. Once I'd discovered how to transpose commands between Corel Draw 8 and Corel Xara then this excellent book really came into full use. An interesting side effect was that it also persuaded me to buy Corel Draw 8! But the book? Quite simply, I reckon it's a sizzler, giving away lots of secrets to us dabblers. Despite its price hike to cross the Atlantic - it cost me 35 pounds here in good old England - I can thoroughly recommend this book to you all.

Summary: among most creative ,innovative and Master teachers today..
Review: Studio Techniques by Gary Priester has been the most inspirational corel draw book I have (and I have read many). His ability to teach many skills and techniques in just one of his tutorials is absolutely amazing....His ability to use colors and create truely "gem like" creations with them has left me with my mouth open more than once! All of this means nothing to me if the person with these abilities lacks teaching skills...and this is where Gary shines above most others.... When you combine "Creative Genious" with truely great teaching and writing skills you have "Studio Techniques.." by Gary Priester!!

Summary: The most creative approach to DRAW and PAINT I have seen yet
Review: Take it from me, these two guys are the perfect ones to write this unique book. As the host of the CorelWORLD User Conference, I regularly hire both Gary and David, and they practically do stand-up renditions of this book in front of our audiences. It's the perfect blend of personality, humor, and solid information, and these two can mix that editorial cocktail better than anyone.

Summary: Grumpy Old Men Do Corel
Review: That was the original title my co-author Gary Priester and I wanted for this book. Gary is the best of the best when it comes to CorelDRAW. This is a full-color book that shows how to do some fantastic stuff using CorelDRAw and CorelPHOTO-PAINT. It is a fun book too (let me qualify that, we had fun making it), because I was able to fianlly show the Duke of DRAW (Gary) that as good as CorelDRAW is, PHOTO-PAINT is better.

Summary: A Webmaster's Bible
Review: The best thing about this book is not on learning how the tricks of the trade are done. It's how the authors ability to bring the best out of the reader's creativity which matters. As an amateur website developer, look what this book have done to my homepage.

Summary: Meager but attractive
Review: The book is designed project by project with step by step in every project. The idea works well and makes book very attractive and easy to read. Add here nice illustrations and color print. But (there is always one) this is far away from technical introduction and it will leave you far away from good understanding of all the power of DRAW which is truly amazing software that requires quite a work to master. This book is too expensive for what it offers. There is no CD either.

Summary: Good but meager
Review: The main problem with this book is not a presentation or knowledge. The book is fine and shows nicely the amenities of Corel's software. The problem is the book costs too much. No CD, no comprehensive approach and still 50 bucks. I think that is too much. However, otherwise the book deserves recommendation. Faced with the meager choice on the book market I begin to understand why is Photoshop so much more popular though as a software it is not an inch better than Photo-Paint. (Well, I have not seen version 5 yet)
