Rating: Summary: I am appreciate to Mr. Marco Cartu Review: Just to say thank you ! This book can tell you what you what to know .It's a necessary referenece book to Delphi 3 programer.
Rating: Summary: Best Book on Borland Delphi Review: So far I havent seen a better book than this one on Delphi. I enjoy reading it. I just hope that the author will write a compatible book on C++ Builder
Rating: Summary: This is not Pure Delphi programming... Review: The author, Marco Cantu, his profession is mostly in C/C++. In this book, several techniques he used are very into C/C++ or does not belong to Pascal at all. In the examples introduced in this book he solved most of the problems by accessing Windows API functions instead of Delphi's built-in procedures and functions. This creates a cloud over the reader's head since the author jumps around among C/C++, Pascal, and Windows API functions. The author also did not go into depth in Delphi Internet Programming (he only used one chapter to give an overview of this important part of the Delphi programming), and hence is not "Mastering Delphi." I suggest the readers who want to learn Delphi read books written in pure pascal codes first, then go further into the Windows API functions later.
Rating: Summary: Too many issues covering too little information Review: The book is almost an identical copy of the previous versions. The author wanted to cover as much issues as he could and therefore the OLE/COM issue has only about 100 pages ( not very good ) and the Tools APIhas ONLY 20 PAAGEA!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Marvellous Stuff. A Must have Book Review: The book is the best for Delphi and no other book seems to even come close. The examples are very clear and concise. The coverage of Object Pascal is also very good. But the book does not have much about internet programming and does not talk about the Provider and other components used for three tiered applications. The CD contains more than 200 examples which are absolutely superb. All in All a book well worth twice its price
Rating: Summary: Just get it and you'll know Review: The only thing that I don't like about the book was its size. It's just too thick and too heavy. If you're a beginner, don't waste your TIME and money buying another Delphi's introduction books, this is the ONE for you. Well, I knew nothing about C/C++, but this book is 100% Pascal. There's should be no single C code in the book as long as I remember. All the code is very useful example for Pascal. Trust me, trust Marco.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as what I have heard.... Review: This book certainly covers a lot of topics of Delphi's VCL and has a really good introduction to OOP programming. However, the text and the language the author used are not very understandable or not very friendly. The examples the author used are not very clear and well explained. Some text and techniques in this book are way too "wordy" and hence create a number of confusions. If you are a beginner, I suggest you to skip some parts of the OOP programming chapters since it's far too confusing and difficult to read. Thank you for your attention.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book... buy it. Review: This book covers a lot of subjects. It was my first Delphi book, coming from Foxpro. The examples were C++ oriented; this was a bit tough, but with effort, even I could understand most everything. This is the best I've seen after haunting a couple bookstores. It'll probably take at least one more book to feel some significant degree of mastery, but in the meantime, there's lots of good stuff out there in magazines and on the web.

Rating: Summary: Good overall, but for what level? Review: This book covers many of the important aspects on Delphi although if you're interested in Database programming you're better off with Henderson's Client/Server book. However, the book is nothing for beginners because it does not cover basic features so much in depth and is not very explanatory, but for the immediate programmer it is really good, but it can sometimes cover really basic stuff which is a little bit annoying. For the expert programmer it can provide som useful tricks but it wouldn't be worth the money.
