We are both very happy with the coverage. I like the many code examples. My wife likes the easy to read explanations.John and Emily
Rating: Summary: Finally!!! A JavaScript book that is in plain "English" Review: As a long time coder, I was having trouble grasping the basics of javascripting, even after reading multiple articles. I was able to understand it but never had a good grasp of the basics for writing my own scripts. Finally thanks to this book that uses real world examples to describe, properties, functions, and methods, I feel that I've got a much better understanding and look forward to implementing what I've learned.

Rating: Summary: Knowledgeable author - inappropriate book for newcomers. Review: There is no doubt about the genius of the young author, but the book moves at the wrong pace for those fairly new to HTML, STYLE sheets and JavaScript. Also, the book does not have enough detail for the experienced page designer. I am disappointed with the book and would not recommend it to others.
Rating: Summary: Interesting JavaScript ! Review: I'm a beginner for web disign. Last month, I just knew HTML, but I hoped to make interesting homepage as others. This kind of homepages were made using Java Script, Flash, Java. I aimed my first target to JavaScript. So, I went to bookstore to find interesting Javascript Book. Almost a hour and half. I found this book. This book is good for my purpose. Especially, I wanted to make some special image change. For example, whenever someone's mouse over some image, that image chang some other image. I want to make this. This book show easiest example about that. Also, it show other interesting effects such as layer, style sheet, cookie. If you are beginner for web design, I think this book is good for you. However, I disappointed one sigle thing about this book. Example source is too many errors. Most example source is first not work to your browser. Because example sources show your browser just html source, not example result. So, you have to move those source code from your browser to your word processor. Then, save this source with html extension. So, examples are work.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: When I first wanted to learn JavaScript, I couldn't even make an image rollover, but after reading this book once, I could make forms, random images, etc. This book is great for those of you who want to learn how to program the web with JavaScript, and even the more expierenced people will still find it useful. I am always checking the index in the back for all sorts of event handlers, and other neat things. I reccommend this title to anybody who wants to learn good JavaScript fast and efficently.
Rating: Summary: Should you buy a book based on reviews? Review: I did buy this book based on the reviews posted here. And I was disappointed. I felt I wasted my money. You get much better JavaScript tutorials on the net for free. The writing style of this book is very immature. There is not much content in this book. I wonder how this book has got such a high rating! Bottomline is, before you buy a book, check out the contents yourself in a bookstore.
Rating: Summary: JavaScript Made Easy! Review: This was the first book i bought when i started to learn JavaScript. Having no knowledge of any other programming language besides HTML i found the book easy to understand. However, like most programming language books i thought that this one was a little short on examples. It also seems to dive into JavaScript a bit too shallow and doesnt really get to the bottom of the langauge. This is an excellent book for anyone's first attempt at learning JavaScript.
Rating: Summary: Well worth it, if you want practical javascript code Review: Sure, Nick doesn't give you everything you ever wanted to know about coding/programming/javascript. He just gives you detailed, working examples of just about everything you'd ever want to do with javascript. For my money, it's the definitive reference for those of us that want to create a certain effect without learning everything there is to know about object programming with javascript. Let me say this, I've wasted more money on other javascript books that never mentioned half the stuff Nick gives step by step instructions to do.
Rating: Summary: A book for teen-aged JavaScript learners. Review: If you are a mature programmer, this is just not a suitable book for you. The book is very poorly organized. Examples are given in pieces of JavaScript code, without much explanation about how the code can be used in a HTML document. The book shows the lack of maturity of the author, but with no offense intended, may be, teenagers will get fascinated because the author is a teenager. For me, it was a complete waste of money and time.
