Summary: The best cookbook I've ever bought!
Review: This book is a must-have for anyone who likes to impress family and friends with a delicious cake. I have made 6 of her recipes and everyone has turned out perfect. They taste like they were made from scratch. In the front of the book is a picture of every cake or cookie made (which helps alot) and she also gives a list of ingredients to always keep on hand for when you need to whip up a dessert quickly. Each recipe only takes about 15 minutes to prepare and many can be made a head of time. There are some excellent Bundt cakes and cheesecakes included. I've tried both and they are good...you would never guess they were made from a cake mix.

Summary: I can sum it up in a couple of words - EASY and YUMMY!!!
Review: This is exactly the way I like to cook - take a recipe and add my own enhancements in order to make an even better creation. Needless to say, I have made some great things as well as some down right awefull things this way. The Cake Doctor takes the guess work out of baking and allows you to make a custom creation that you know will turn out great.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: This is such a great book!! The Gooey Butter Cakes (I have tried 3 varieties) are sooo good. For Mother's Day I made two of the Hornet's Nest Cakes & there wasn't a crumb left. Everyone loved it and it has to be the easiest cake I have ever made! Even easier than making a cake according to the directions on the box. And talk about moist! Everyone has loved every cake I have made from this book. I can't wait to make more.

Summary: Best cake book I own!
Review: The Cake Mix Doctor is the best cake book I own! I have made more cakes from this book than I can keep track of. The fresh orange cake is delicious! I did have some problems with the cannoli filling but I think that was my fault because I tend to make soupy puddings. I have made the chocolate sheet cake with (and without the) peanut butter frosting many times and it always comes out great! I would recomend this book to begining and advanced bakers!

Summary: Just what the Dr. ordered!
Review: I pride myself as being a good baker, typically from scratch, and this cookbook offers OUTSTANDING (not quite from scratch) recipes any baker would be proud to serve to guests, take to functions, and/or wrap in cellophane and give as gifts. As a matter of fact I have 2 finished cakes on my counter at this moment that are going with me to work today for a brunch. I know they'll taste as good as they look! Trust me, this book is a definite keeper!

Summary: Yummy, Goof-proof Desserts in MINUTES!
Review: I'm a terrible baker, or so I thought...

This book is wonderful for the person who is short on time and baking talent, as it combines quick recipes with easy-to-follow directions.

So far, I've tried 2 recipes -- the Kahlua cake and chocolate birthday cone cupcakes. I was barely able so test them out before my boyfriend, family, and co-workers chowed down. (Needless to say, they were a hit!)

Excellent features: 1.) At the beginning of the book is a photograph of *every cake, cookie, brownie, etc.* with its name and page number underneath. You can save time by looking at finished products, then flipping back to find the recipe. (Excellent feature! I wish all cookbooks were organized like this.)

2.) I can't stress the simplicity enough. You can literally put together a dessert in less than 10 minutes. (Note: That time estimate refers to *prep* time, not *baking* time, as the desserts will then have to go in the oven for between 20-30 minutes.)

Overall: I would have a hard time discerning a "from-scratch" cake from a "Cake Doctor" cake. The author adds an interesting feature or ingredient which makes the cakes taste very un-like a mix. (For example, in the chocolate cupccake recipe, the author says to use cinnamon -- an ingredient I wouldn't think to combine with chocolate. However, it made a difference. The cake was excellent!)

For easy, A+ desserts, this cookbook is a "must have." Enjoy!

Summary: The Best Book About Baking Cakes
Review: You can't go wrong with this book. The recipes are simple and come out fabulous. There's something for every taste. People at the office either consider you a master baker or accuse you of going to some fancy bakery. Buy this book and impress everyone!

Summary: Become a doctor...easy as cake!
Review: I have always liked baking and can do complicated things from scratch, but who has time any more? I love this cookbook. There's recipes that are simple and quick, and some that are more involved and fancier. I have tried several recipes already--an apricot nectar cake, a fresh lemon cake, the candy-like five flavor cake, and the strongly cinnamon snickerdoodle cake. I am going to make a pina colada cake this weekend. There's great tips to ensure great results every time, and tips on frosting and decorating. The book is easy to use and visually appealing, and there's a color photo guide in the front showing each cake and the page number for the recipe. Whether you're a good baker or not, you will succeed. Indulge your sweet tooth. Have the high demand goods at the bake sale. Bamboozle your family and your kid's friends. Doctor your cakes! Stat!

Summary: EASY DOES IT!
Review: THE CAKE MIX DOCTOR is the greatest "easy-bake" book that I've ever read and used. The author, Anne Byrn, must have really put a lot of thought and practice into this one and it shows. The first plus is that she shows a picture of each finished delicacy in the front of the book. The cook can select the perfect dessert for any occasion, then go straight to the referenced page. The second plus is that each recipe is made by using a box cake mix as the basic ingredient. The final plus is that if the directions are followed to the letter, the dessert comes out perfectly. These sweets range from assorted cakes and breads to biscotti and cookies. There are even fruit pizza, cheesecake and a gingerbread house. This book is excellent for its intended audience, yet it is NOT for the die-hard scratch cake enthusiast.
