Summary: Great for cooking.
Review: I've enjoyed Persian food for many years. Not only was this book a great start, and continuation, to learn how to cook Persion food, I've recommended it to my Iranian friends in the US and they have found it to be great as well.

If you are looking to cook great Persian food without learning the Farsi language, buy this book.

Summary: The Best Iranian Cookbook on the Market
Review: If you are new to Iranian cooking -- or if you are Iranian but wish someone had written down accurate measurements, this is the book for you. I have tried many of the recipes in the book with excellent results. Even the desserts are come out wonderfully.

And, as an added bonus, Ms. Batmanglij takes the opportunity to educate the reader about Iranian culture and special feasts. This book is a wonderful resource, as well as a wonderful gift.

Summary: The taste of Persia
Review: Many people say:" what you eat is what you are"
This book is a fabulous combination of Persian food recipes and Persian charms. It shows the colour, taste, and thoughtfulness of Persian life. A kind of life that carried this nation out through centuries of hardships and harshness.
The author has put lots of love of her roots and has done a beautiful job. As a gourmet cook I must say: this book is a must to have in every kitchen, where the food is being treated as a piece of art!

Summary: Wonderful gift
Review: My daughter-in-law was born in Iran. She often said she could not remember exactly was went into certain dishes her mother had cooked. She did not know what spices and herbs to use. I had purchased two smaller Persian cookbooks which she said were not very good. She loves this cookbook. Her Persian friends love this book. They say the recipes are wonderful. She also likes the the section on celebrations.

Summary: Buy this book!!!
Review: My fiancee is Persian but has been living in the U.S. since she was 5. I bought this book so that we could enjoy some of the dishes that she fondly remembered from her childhood - dolmehs, khoreshes, and polows that her aunts and grandmother would make. When she opened the book and started reading, her eyes lit up! It was like she was reconnected to her past. And since then, we've been enjoying this book immensely! It's huge, it's complete, and it's awesome. Buy it!

Summary: You will impress your Persian friends!
Review: Since unwrapping this book from its shipping box 2 weeks ago, I have already tried 7 or 8 recipes and each has been an absolute winner with my family. I've made soups, dips, stew, salad and Cornish hens stuffed with dried fruit. My husband is completely addicted to the cucumber pomegranate salad. The book sits on my coffee table and is a conversation piece. Guests love flipping through it, reading the lore and poetry, gazing at the gorgeous photography. Now all I need is a traditional Persian sofreh (dining cloth). Nush-e jan!

Summary: A perfect choice for those who eat with their eyes
Review: The food of Iran is rich and varied and embraces some of the most sophisticated dishes to be found anywhere. This beautifully produced cookbook provides recipes for a wide range of mouthwatering creations for every occasion, from quick appetizers and snacks to slowly cooked, robust stews and exotic desserts. Readers may find some of the ingredients called for, such as angelica, barberries, unripe grape powder, sahlab, and quince blossoms, hard to find, but most staples are readily available at Middle Eastern groceries and well stocked supermarkets. There is much pleasure to be derived from merely looking at the stunning illustrations, which is reason enough to want to own this book.

I also wish to recommend "Recipes and Remembrances from an Eastern Mediterranean Kitchen," by Sonia Uvezian. This is a cookbook unlike any other and indispensable reading for lovers of Middle Eastern cuisine.

Summary: Beautifully done inside and out!
Review: This book is absolutely phenomenal! I received this as a gift and display it proudly in my home. More than just a cookbook, it also explains history behind the food, showcases ancient artwork and contains phonetic pronunciations of the recipe names in Farsi. A must for anyone interested in all-around Persian culture.

Summary: Best Cook Book Around
Review: This is the best cookbook I own. Its layout is clear and simple. The recipies are easy to understand and clearly written. It is the most complete book I've ever seen. New food of life explains how to prepare fresh spice mixtures for it's own dishes, includes variants for different ways of preparing each dish, contains nice photos which help for presentation ideas, contains conversion tables for ovens, weights and measures as well as historical notes and even a list of Persian markets in the US. This is easily one of the most valuable cookbooks you will ever buy. It's definitely worth the money!!!
