Having already lost 40+ lbs. eating low carb., I have read everything I could find in print or on the internet about carbohydrate intolerance. This book was BY FAR the best resource that I have read to date. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to lose weight and/or improve their health.

Rating:  Summary: THE EPIPHANOUS LC BOOK! Review: What a delight this book is! After reading all the other prominent LC Diet Books and trying to assimilate the differences and suggestions, I discover Dana Carpender's book and find that she has put it all together perfectly. The book is SO USEFUL and enlightening and chock-full of much more than all the other books combined. It's THE companion book, or more appropriately, the LC Bible-an absolute must-have!
Rating:  Summary: THIS BOOK IS NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!! Review: I cannot say enough GREAT THINGS about this book. Mrs. Carpender is so real. The book is easy to understand and its from a real woman's point of view. All of the advise is great, and you can tell that this lady has really done her research, and conbined it with her own experiences. Very easy to relate to. I intend to read it over and over again as a reference manual, inspiration, and for when times get hard. Im going to order additonal copies for all of my girl friends who keep asking me how I lost so much weight. THANK YOU Dana, for sharing your expericences, wit, and humor in writing this book, and making it plain, and enjoyable at the same time. May God continue to bless you in your low carb journey.
Rating:  Summary: Love this book! Review: I found this book when I had just about finished the Induction phase of Atkins Low Carb Diet. I had also read Protein Power. I was already sold on staying Low Carb. I was looking for a book that would break down the Low Carb philosophy in terms of "what's the easiest way to make this a part of my life". This book does a great job of explaining the different approaches to Low Carb Eating, eating out and holidays - in other words, "low carb life"! Now I know what to buy in the grocery store, how to put meals together (without spending hours in the kitchen!.)
Rating:  Summary: The Only Way To Lose Review: I have been on weight loss diets almost all of my life! I've lost and gained over 500 pounds in my lifetime. This will no longer be the case for me now that I have read Dana Carpender's book "How I Gave Up My Low Fat Diet And Lost Forty Pounds" and am following her plan! I am now at the lowest weight I have been in ten years and it was so easy to attain this weight loss. How can you call this program a diet? I've eaten steak, chicken, veggies, cheese and occassionally Peanut M&M's, ice cream and chocolate mousse! This program is not a starvation plan. I have always felt so satisfied and healthy and have so much energy! Best of all I know I will be able to stay on this food program for the rest of my life! If you are tired of the diet Yo-yo I hightly recommend Dana's book. It's a fun, fast paced, easy read and it will be the last diet book you'll ever need to buy!

Rating:  Summary: Humor and Common Sense Review: I have been low-carbing for about 8 months now, and I have read most of the popular low-carb plans. Dana's book is a wonderful, chatty volume filled with facts and inspiration. It summarizes the popular plans, explains in plain language the processes involved with low-carbing. It is not committed to any single plan, and affords the reader a tour with her intelligent, informed notes on the different approaches. As she reinterates, everyone is different. Here is a book that helps the reader make sensible choices, and customize a plan for success. This will be the book that I keep returning to as I progress.
Rating:  Summary: Dont let the cover fool you! This book gets 10 stars! Review: I bought this book and read it in 2 days. It should be a "must" have for any low-carb dieter. Dana gives info on all the various low carb diets out there, so you can choose which works for you. She gives you a wealth of information that I didnt find in the Heller's book or the Eades book. She tells you what works and what doesn't. I almost didn't buy this book because the cover looked, well, weird. Never judge a book by its cover! The inside flap has a wonderful before and after shots of Dana, and she is quite pretty. The book had cute little cartoon guys and girls that made me smile. If your still in doubt, read thru Amazon's listing of her table of contents. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? I almost gave up my low carb diet inspite of the benefits because I was struggeling with some things- but Dana cleared up some things. Like I was nashing my teeth alot, and Dana gave alot of info on supplements (do not buy the store multivitamin junk- not sufficent at all! ). I nashed my teeth because I was not getting the correct minerals and vitamins. Read the book, find out more! This book is awesome! I have lost 15 lbs in 2 months and this book will help me reach my goal, and live happily ever after. What more could you ask for?
