Rating: Summary: Wanna get the Skinny on Profesional Smoothies? Review: It's amazing that I have the opportunity to share my book withyou via cyberspace. Amazon.com has provided a conduit to reachyou. Thank you for taking the time to read my comments!I began myquest for the perfect smoothie years ago whan I used to tour as a drummer. The rigors of the road made it difficult to eat right. So, I began packing a blender and juicer along for the tour dates. I found that is was well worth the effort to squeeze fresh juice and blend smoothies while traveling. I've always been a nutritional advocate, so I began to spread the word about smoothies. In 1992, I started Juice Gallery, a multimedia publishing and restaurant consulting firm,... In December, 1999, we established The Juice & Smoothie Association, which is a trade association deticated to promoting the Juice & Smoothie Industry worldwide. So, why write a book about smoothies? It is about time that someone set the record straight about what smoothies really are and where they originated. I have taken the best of my research and consulting experience in the industry, and have provided for you, the smoothie lover! - Did you know the first use of the word smoothie was a trade name for women's under garments? I've found that, in general, people are confused about what a smoothie really is. There are manufacturers putting purees in cans and bottles and calling these drinks smoothies. There are dairy smoothies, non-dairy smoothies, slush smoothies, powder smoothies and on-and-on. I want to tell you what a real smoothie is by providing you a history of the retail juice/smoothie business, AND providing you with the same quality recipes that the profesional juice/smoothie companies use. In fact, I not only provide you with the time-tested recipes used in many juice/smoothie bars, but I went to my friends in the industry and got recipes from them, too. Companies like: Crazy Carrot, Jamba Juice, Juice it Up!, Juice Stop, Planet Smoothie, Robeks Juice, and Smoothie King. Each of these companies contributed several recipes. (Click on the thumbnail picture above to see the logos for these companies). There you have it, anything and everything about smoothies. I am convinced that this book will provide you with all the answers to your smoothie questions! Healthy Regards, Dan "The Smoothieman" Titus, chief banana peeler, The Juice & Smoothie Association, president, Juice Gallery MultiMedia

Rating: Summary: Top Secrete Recipes Review: This book I highly recommend. Trivial facts about smoothies in the history section are great. For example, I did not know that the word smoothie originated in commerce for the first time as a trade name for brassieres and later for bathing suits! I found the book to be more than a recipe book. It is the only book that attempts to educate you about smoothies from start to finish. Couple this together with the real approved "secrete" recipes from companies like Jamba Juice, and you have a REAL winner. I found out that the book is certified by The Juice & Smoothie Association. The book is designed to educate consumers about smoothies. For example, smoothies are ranked from platinum to bronze based on how they are made: Platinum being with fresh ingrediants; bronze being process packaged ingrediants. Anyway, cheers!
Rating: Summary: It's the best. Fruit smoothies for the health of it. Review: This book is one of the best, if not the best book on smoothies. Getting more fruit into our diets is something we all aspire to, but few achieve. Between having to shop for it, getting it home, and it spoils one day later, makes the recommended daily levels fruit consumption a lot more difficult to achieve. Then along came smoothies, and now we freeze our fruit. Chop it up into little squares as soon as you get it home, and place it in zip loc bags. Then the smoothie is always ready; no more spoilage. My favorite is to take banannas, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, strawberries, and blueberries to make an all fruit shake. In this book you see a lot of varieties of the smoothies. It's worth it just for the redipes. Highly recommended.
