Rating: Summary: The best cheesecake ever... Review: ...is in this book! It's the Traditional Cheesecake ala Reuben's recipe. I have searched high and low for a dense, creamy, smooth-textured cheesecake with not a lot of fuss neccesary, and this is the one. The cake is requested several times a year by family members. Also delicious are the Desert Island Butter Cake, Apple Cake, Cream Cheese Poundcake...I could go on and on. Something I've noticed is that a lot of the recipes are very simple, calling for only a few ingredients, but the results are spectacular. Highly recommended, as others have said, to either experienced or new bakers.
Rating: Summary: The PERFECT Baking Book Review: Every recipe I have made from this cookbook has been gourmet quality, unique, and strikingly good. I am famous for Rosie's Brownie Shortbread. I've made it at least 20 times, sometimes in triple batches. Absolutely the best baking book I have ever owned or can imagine owning. WOW!
Rating: Summary: For the picky butter baker in your life...... Review: I bought this book for my 85 year old aunt who is a picky and perfectionist baker. Rating: Summary: The only baking book you will ever need to buy Review: I bought this book in a used bookstore - hard to imagine! I love baking but have been let down by one to many recipes in my time. This booked looked different though - the title itself goes along with my thinking of baking. When I bake I am not into the diet - fatfree form. I intend to indulge in all the delicious flavors that only come from "real" ingredients. I tried several things and they all turned out perfectly. Then I baked the pinapple upside down cake and my father-in-law who isn't the biggest talker - couldn't stop talking about the "best cake he had ever tasted". Try the brownies, the carrot-pinapple cake and the chocolate chip cookies too, oh and the pie crust recipe - simple and perfect every time. You will never find my copy of this book in a used bookstore. This is just simply the best ever baking book I have ever owned.

Rating: Summary: My favorite baking book and I bake all the time Review: I bought this book one summer when I was pregnant and systematically went through it and have made almost everything in the book. The chocalate and yellow cake are picture perfect and delicious. The buttercream frosting is so light and not too sweet. The carrot cake is great, and the cream cheese frosting is the best. A few of the refrigerator cookies have become requested christmas favorites. The Strawberry cream cheese tart is to die for. You really must have this book if you love to bake. Whenever I bring something I make out of this book to a party, at least one person asks me for the recipe. I have copied them so many times that I am now just going to start giving the book away!!PS, I only gained 27 pounds in that pregnancy, if you were wondering!! But my husband gained about 10!!

Rating: Summary: Outstanding baking resource Review: I consider myself an armchair chef -- I own lots of cookbooks, but usually enjoy reading them far more than actually using them. And I don't typically refer to any one book for more than a few recipes. Rosie's is different. My only baking book (I've never felt the need to buy another), I bought it over five years ago when I had very little experience baking. Since then, I've tried a couple dozen recipes from the book, and plan to keep going. If the recipes are followed faithfully, even the neophyte baker will do fine. The apple pie and chocolate layer cake are my favorites. I've thought of giving the book as a gift, but selfishly decided not to give away my secrets. The book is written so that even the most inexperienced baker won't feel intimidated. Much of the descriptive text is gushing and embarassing (not to mention names like "chocolate orgasms"), but it keeps the book user-friendly and reassuring.
Rating: Summary: The best book to turn to for desserts. Review: I especially like the brownies and the bread pudding, although I have never come across a recipe in this book that I didn't like.
