Review: A FRIEND OF OURS IS AWARE OF MY HUSBANDS HEALTH PROBLEMS AND HE LENT ME HIS COPY OF THIS BOOK.I READ THE INFORMATION PORTION,IT REINFORCED ALL THE THINGS I HAD LEARNED ABOUT WAYS TO EAT HEALTHY. I LOOKED AT SEVERAL OF THE RECIPIES. THE FOOD IS THE TYPE I LIKE TO COOK AND THE KIND THAT MY FAMILY LIKES TO EAT-THE FAT SUBSTITUTION RECOMMENDATIONS ARE EASY.I FEEL THAT THE NUTRITION SCORECARD WILL BE A GREAT HELP IN BALANCING OUR DAILY DIET. I LIKED WHAT I READ---I AM GOING TO BUY THE BOOK TODAY. I WILL ALSO RECOMMEND IT TO MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Summary: Delicious recipes that don't taste low-fat.
Review: All of the recipes show calculations of fat, calories, cholesterol, etc., both with high fat ingredients and with the substituted low-fat ingredients. The Greek Spinach Pie is luscious, and the Tuna Casserole is pure comfort food.

Summary: Good recipes, great tool for your own recipes!!!
Review: As a Dietitian by training, I say this is the book to teach you how to rethink your favorite recipe's ingredients. Now you can do your own calorie and fat reduction using these ideas and substitutions. Remember to curb those carbohydrates (use proteins!) and you are on your way to better cooking for yourself and others.

Summary: I have shelves of cookbooks and this is my favorite.
Review: Evelyn Tribole does a great job of teaching you how to lessen the fat in your own recipes without sacraficing taste and texture. The recipes in the book are great too - I haven't made a bad one yet ! She doesn't modify a recipe in ways that effect the end-quality of the food so it doesn't taste like a "diet" recipe. Even my picky husband likes it and speaks highly of the book to our friends and family. Lastly, the recipes are usually pretty easy to make - no exotic ingredients that are hard to find. Most things are right in the cupboard! Many dinners can be prepared in a half hour or so. Another good book by Evelyn Tribole is "Stealth Health."

Summary: Have used so often the book is falling apart!
Review: I bought this book about four years ago and have made many of the recipes. Most are relatively easy and fast (especially the chapter on one-dish meals), and although some ingredients you have to look a little harder to find most are available and a lot are things you probably already have on hand. The Chicken Enchiladas and Garden Vegetable Pizza have become standard family favorites and when served to guests I am often asked for the recipes. Oh, and did I mention that the recipies are low fat? I often forget because they taste so good. So happy that she is coming out with another cookbook - I will be one of the first to buy it!

Summary: Looking to achieve a more healthy lifestyle?
Review: I cannot recommend this book enough. I am beginning to learn different methods for reducing the amount of fat and calories in the foods that I eat and this book has become an indispensible tool in becoming more informed. I love the section on substitutions which provides alternatives to cooking with many high fat, high cholesterol ingredients. I have already begun to incorporate many of her suggestions in recipes of my own. I purchased this book a little over two weeks ago and already don't know how I managed without it.

Summary: The Best Healthy Cookbook I've ever come across!!!
Review: I got this book 3 weeks ago on a whim, and am I glad I did!! This is a very wonderful common sense cookbook. You can get all your ingredients at the grocery store-one stop shopping if you want to. I have made the cinnamon cocoa bars (first recipe I tried), absolutely delectable. The topping consists of marshmallow cream, cocoa powder, pecans, light corn syrup and sugar. Thats what makes it so rich and satisfying. The Greek Penne Pasta is delicious as are the Chicken Tostadas, and I just got done making her gingerbread recipe. I am willing to bet that if you didnt tell them it had some whole wheat flour (she blends a little of the white and the wheat), and applesauce in it to make it healthier-they would not know the difference. I just cut it while it is still warm; its moist and delicious and it smells good (too bad there's no smell-a-vision here). Oh, I did make the macaroni and cheese too. Instead of using just skim milk, she puts evaporated skim milk with it too. It makes it richer and its not runny at all. You've got to get this book!! I sure hope she keeps on writing cookbooks. She has a wealth of knowledge on how to make it healthier but keeps it tasting yummy. I am very picky about food and coming from this very critical critic, its excellent!!!!

Summary: The best lowfat cookbook I have ever found.
Review: I have recommended this cookbook to everyone I know because the food is fantastic (better than any restraunt food) but it's lowfat, the recipes are incredibly well written and easy to follow, and the ingredients are common.
