Summary: Amazing Cookie book
Review: I have used this book for years. The directions are expicit and easy to follow. The tips are very helpful. The layout of each recipe is excellent. I have made many of the recipes. If you are looking for a book with sophisticated cookies, this and Flo Braker's Sweet Minatures are great choices.

Summary: My favorite!
Review: I have used this book so much over the years that the binding broke and I had to put the pages into a notebook! I find that most of these cookies are great for everyday not just the holidays. It has large pictures of each cookie and excellent, easy to understand steps to follow. This is truly the only cookie book you need!

Summary: No need to hesitate - this cookbook is great!
Review: I have used this cookbook more than any other on my shelf. I pull it out every Christmas. The stained glass cookies and the peanut butter cookies with cherry jam filling are my favorites. The recipes are easy to follow, and the author includes tips for every recipe that stops problems before they start. Instructions for using a food processor is included for most recipes as well, which is a boon to anyone who enjoys baking but needs to keep things easy and speedy. The photography is wonderful - I appreciate having pictures of each recipe represented.

Summary: Mahogany Buttercrunch Fix
Review: I love this book, too, even though mine is in pieces. The problem with the buttercrunch is this: Once it comes to the boil, you must use a clean spoon each time you stir. I don't stir it often at that point, but when I do, I use a new spoon. If there is any sugar on the spoon, the whole thing will crystallize.

Summary: The best cookie book I own!
Review: If you ever needed inspiration to start your Christmas baking, this is a great book to use. The photos are just gorgeous, and there are recipes for all skill levels. For the truly ambitious, the gingerbread cathedral is a massive holiday project. (I've never quite gotten that ambitious.)

Every recipe I've tried was wonderful, but often I simply thumb through the pages, looking for ideas and daydreaming about the next holiday baking binge.

Here's hoping that Wm. Morrow puts this one out again very soon.

Summary: A word on the binding...
Review: Just an adendum. After reading all the reviews I noticed a lot of folks had trouble with the bindings of their books. I have had mine since 1990 (when it first came out if I recall correctly) and the binding is fine but I guess plenty slipped through the cracks. That is too bad since this is such a beautiful book that one really wants to own and pass on to the next generation.
